We’re still not over last night’s surprise twist at the 2017 Oscars.
After Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway read the wrong winner for Best Picture, it was revealed that “Moonlight” had actually beat “La La Land" for the prestigious award. Naturally, the Internet collectively freaked out in response, but no reactions were better than the ones that came from the Hollywood stars themselves.
While M. Night Shyamalan poked fun at himself, saying he actually wrote the surprise ending to the Oscars…
I wrote the ending of the academy awards 2017. @jimmykimmel we really got them!— M. Night Shyamalan (@MNightShyamalan) February 27, 2017
Others were still processing the unbelievable series of events.

I'm mean ... I just ... that's the craziest thing I've ever been witness to. Huge congrats to Moonlight, which is fantastic. Wow.— Paul Feig (@paulfeig) February 27, 2017
Many wished the surprise twist had happened on U.S. election day.
Why couldn't this have happened with the election?! #Oscars— Jon Donahue (@JonDonahue) February 27, 2017
Some even cheekily asked for a recheck on other awards, specifically the Best Actor category.
Can we check Best Actor again— B.J. Novak (@bjnovak) February 27, 2017
Let's check that Best Actor envelope too.— Jackie Jennings (@ohhijackie) February 27, 2017
While many were excited to hear that “Moonlight” had won, others also applauded how the “La La Land” team handled the awkward scenario.
The LA LA LAND people were so classy. Amazing. Two great movies.— Kumail Nanjiani (@kumailn) February 27, 2017

And, of course, many made Steve Harvey jokes. After all, the Miss Universe host famously announced the wrong winner at the 2015 pageant.
And the award for best Steve Harvey impersonation goes to Warren Beatty.— Orlando Jones (@TheOrlandoJones) February 27, 2017
What. The. Actual. Fuck????
And the Oscar goes to...Miss Venezuela! #Oscars— Margaret Cho (@margaretcho) February 27, 2017
Even Harvey poked fun at himself.
Call me Warren Beatty. I can help you get through this! #Oscars— Steve Harvey (@IAmSteveHarvey) February 27, 2017
But the best reactions were the ones that said what we were all feeling: So. Many. Emotions.
Holy crap. Holy effing moonlight. Plus Viola.#Oscars— shonda rhimes (@shondarhimes) February 27, 2017
In the words of “Fuller House” star Lori Loughlin: “Hollywood loves a dramatic ending!”
So true, Lori. So true.
