Alexandra Kutas, Ukraine's first model who uses a wheelchair, is here and ready to break all of the fashion industry's taboos.

Suffering from a spinal cord injury at birth, the 23-year-old is paralyzed from the waist down, but her disability, plus a few other setbacks, hasn't stopped her from trying to fulfill her dreams.

"I wrote letters to several modelling agencies, and they told me that I was very pretty," she explained to AFP TV. "But they didn't know how to promote me, because the market was not ready. Then two years ago, there was the first fashion week in New York, where models with disabilities were invited, I felt that it's time."

After a little inspiration, the modelling hopeful connected with Ukrainian fashion designer Fedor Vozianov, who decided to make her the star of his fall 2017 runway show.

Looking exquisite in a floor-length black gown and puffer jacket, Kutas, who was seated in an elevated chair, was hoisted up by four male models and walked to the end of the runway — a moment she will surely never forget.

But as big as this historic moment was for her, she wants her visibility to inspire others who are differently abled.

"I think this could be a real game-changer in the fashion world," she told the Daily Mail in early February. "I want children who may have disabilities to know that even though it's not easy, you can achieve anything if you have enough passion for it."
