Reason This 'Thief' Stole A Woman's Wind Chimes Will Break Your Heart

He left an apologetic note and a $5 bill.

After a Washington woman realized her wind chimes were stolen, she found a heartbreaking note that the “thief” left at her front door.

Chrissy Marie shared the apologetic note on Facebook last week, along with the $5 bill that was also left behind.

The note read: “I am sorry that we stole your wind chimes our mom died and liked butterflies so my sister took it and put it by our window I am sorry this is only money I have please do not be mad at us – Jake.”

Naturally, the mom-of-five was not mad, but sympathetic. “Well Jake, I not sure who you are but you can come get your money back sweetie,” she wrote.

Chrissy went on to say that she has three wind chimes and was willing to give Jake another so that both he and his sister could have one. “I am not mad,” she wrote, “please come over to my house.”

In a separate post, Chrissy revealed that she knows what it’s like to lose parent: “I was 5 years old when I lost my mom and just lost my dad almost 6 years ago. Everyone unfortunately will loose (sic) a parent sometime in their life.”

On Facebook, many were touched by the boy’s heartbreaking note and hoped that Chrissy would find him again.

In response to those who left negative comments on her post (because Internet trolls are everywhere), Chrissy said: “Yes I do know they stole, but he did try to make it right most likely without hurting his sister (possible reason for giving me money instead of chime back). I was taught and feel in my heart to forgive and yes that is what I will do.”
