How To Treat And Prevent Back Pain During Pregnancy

These tips will help you prevent the symptom.

As if the morning sickness, lack of sleep and constant need to pee weren't enough, back pain is just another symptom pregnant moms have to deal with — or so it seems.

In the video above, rheumatologist Maziar Badii shares tips for the treatment and prevention of back pain during pregnancy.

First thing's first: good posture is key. Badii suggests standing or sitting tall with shoulders back to counteract the urge to lean forward as your belly grows. And if you're having a hard time sleeping, a pillow between the knees can provide some comfort for side sleepers and takes pressure off the back.

Back pain coupled with vaginal bleeding, uterine tightening, a fever or numbness could be a sign of something more serious, Parents.com reports. If you are experiencing any of these conditions, or if treatment options in the video aren't doing the trick, Badii suggests consulting with your doctor before taking over-the-counter medicines.

Check out the video above for more tips on treating and preventing back pain.
