Julia Roberts has been named People magazine's "World's Most Beautiful Woman" for a record fifth time.

The 49-year-old actress has previously claimed the title in 2010, 2005, 2000, and 1991, respectively.

People's editorial director Jess Cagle made the announcement Wednesday on "Good Morning America," adding that the issue will hit newsstands on Friday.

For her part, Roberts says she is "very flattered" by the experience and joked that she would mention her title "in my Christmas card to the Clooneys this year," a reference to George Clooney's "Sexiest Man Alive" wins.

Roberts was only 23 years old when she was first crowned "World's Most Beautiful" in 1991, just a year after she hit stardom when she starred in the hit film "Pretty Woman."

After the announcement was made this year, however, people took to Twitter to air their grievances with People's choice.

Some noted that choosing Roberts made People mag seem outdated:

While others noted the historic lack of diversity in their selections:

Others were just plain unimpressed:

But not everyone was unhappy with People for featuring the "Erin Brockovich" star on the cover.

Other "beautiful" people featured in the double-issue include celebrity couples such as Joe Manganiello and Sofia Vergara, George and Amal Clooney, and Jay Z and Beyonce, as well as mega stars Emma Stone and Janelle Monae.
