The shooting of the young Pakistani activist shows one thing: Fanatics are cowards who stand on a shallow ground and can not defend themselves even against a child. Instead, they resort to violence to silence their critics. They lack confidence and are weak to the bone.
As news organizations reported, Malala Yousufzai was shot and seriously wounded on Tuesday as she was leaving her school in her hometown in the Swat valley, northwest of the capital, Islamabad. This incident should mobilize Muslims to try to remove what I call "ugly Muslims" from running the show and occupying the steering wheel.
I used to dismiss the outcry coming from Afghanistan regarding the human rights violations of the hard line Taliban who denied people from their basic rights including women from going to school and getting medical treatment. I used to dismiss these claims as Western anti-Islam propaganda. I could not imagine a Muslim would do such a thing. The allegations were about everything that goes against the teachings of Islam.
Not long afterwards, our people in Somalia received the same curse as the people of Afghanistan. Murderers -- Al-Shabab -- had disguised themselves under religion and started persecuting people in the most vicious manner, not even witnessed during the colonial era. Al-Shabab has reminded me of the Christian terrorists who waged merciless war against the innocent in East Africa.
According to Wikipedia: The Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), also known as the Lord's Resistance Movement, is a militant group/cult operating in northern Uganda, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the Central African Republic. It has been accused of widespread human rights violations, including murder, abduction, mutilation, child-sex slavery and forcing children to participate in hostilities.
Al-Shabab did not even leave the dead lying in their graveyards in peace. They had violated the sanctity of the dead by demolishing the graveyards and removing the human remains.
It is sad and shameful to see these thugs -- the Taliban, Al-Shabab, the LRA -- committing horrific crimes against humanity in the name of religion. Had they joined mafia or other gang groups, then committing atrocities would have been one thing, but doing their dirty work in the name of the faith is a great insult to those who follow the faith and to the faith itself.
Gordon Brown: It's Up to Us to Deliver for Malala
Amb. Ufuk Gokcen: Is It the Advent of a New Era in Somalia?
The healthiest and best countries are the ones where women are treated well.
Islam itself requires that all Malala's be shot, stoned or beheaded.
Mr.Kasim is a weak-kneed apoligist, trying to blow a smoke-screen around the true nature of Islam.
So you won't hear it from me.
Y'know what forget about Christians let's just stick with men. Look at the top stories today about what men are getting up to. Now there's a group that should be rounded up and arrested on sight. If any gender is a complete loss going by today's news stories it's men.
Of course that's a ridiculous standard to judge all people by which is why it's unfair and those are completely unreasonable statements to make.
Firstly, ALL religion is ludicrous and the less we have of it the better. To your point, I stated quite clearly (something you chose to ignore) that not all Muslims are doing these things. Also, please feel free to point out to me any Christian countries that govern to fundamental, literal translations of the Bible? Or use the laws of the Old Testament as ACTUAL LAWS in their judicial system? That's because their aren't any
There are whole Islamic states that govern their people according to Sharia Law. Some of these DO LITTLE NOTHING where women are concerned. Even in some rape cases the woman will get imprisoned FOR BEING RAPED...because she broke Sharia Law by being too "provocative". These things are fact, do you really need me to list these countries out for you???
In this case of this young girl being shot, there will be a raft of arrests, lots of motion but it will die down and very little will be done.
Lastly, trying to conflate this article and my response to it with the violence of men is a false equivalency. These are individual acts with no sanctioning in law, or religion.
SO spare me your moral indignation, religion is a CANCER on our societies, and the ONLY antidote is EDUCATION.
I'm not knowledgeable enough about Islam to know if devotees condone this type of violence.
I do know that theTaliban in Afganistan oppresses women and girls in the name of religion.
However, it's curious that these "religious" men then think it's OK to sexually assault women who are veiled from head to toe and confined to their homes.
