A Love Letter To Hands-On Dads

Have we told you lately that we love you? Have we told you lately that we appreciate all that you do? Because we do. We really, really do. Have we mentioned that your strength, dedication and tenderness never cease to amaze us? We want you to know that the love that you show all of us never goes unnoticed.

Dear hands-on dad,

Have we told you lately that we love you?

Have we told you lately that we appreciate all that you do?

Because we do. We really, really do.

Have we mentioned that your strength, dedication and tenderness never cease to amaze us?

We love how you are always in-tune with the kids' needs.

We notice how your eyes light up when you walk in the door and we see the kids' eyes light up when they see you.

We know that you don't need to be told what the kids should wear or what to feed them. You have dressed and fed them a thousand times over.

We see the fierce protector in you as you wipe away tears, bandage up boo-boos and scare away the monsters under the bed.

When you make the kids laugh and giggle, it makes us laugh and giggle too.

Our hearts melt when the kids are upset and you scoop them into your arms for a comforting hug.

You love our kids fiercely and they never have or will ever question how much you care about them.

Have we told you lately that you look incredibly hot when you read the kids bedtime stories?

We appreciate that you recognize when we are tired or overwhelmed and you take the kids to the park. We can't thank you enough.

We want you to know that the love that you show all of us never goes unnoticed.

From making lunches for school to driving the kids to activities, all that you do makes each day easier.

We love seeing your playful side when you play catch or chase the kids at the park.

We appreciate when you encourage please and thank yous so that we aren't always the ones nagging.

And we appreciate when you take turns giving time outs, so that we aren't always the bad guy.

We love when you surprise us with a date night because you know that we could both use a night out. And you know that if we are stressed, our kids can see it too.

We love that you happily take part in princess parties and paint your daughter's nails because, why not?

It means everything to us that you love our kids unconditionally.

We know that you love and respect your dad, but that you have also chosen to do some things differently as a parent.

You are helping to teach our kids that parents are equals.

The fact that you are hands-on with the kids and around the house and never for a second think that is the "mom's job" reminds us how lucky we are.

Because not all dads are hands on.

Because not all dads are as helpful and respectful as you are.

Because you are helping to teach our kids that parents are equals.

Because you prove every day that dads are 100 per cent capable of doing tasks that were traditionally considered "women's work."

Because you love our kids fiercely and they never have or will ever question how much you care about them.

Thank you for all that you do for our family every day.

You are a great dad.

We love you.

Happy Father's Day! xo
