Althia Raj is HuffPost Canada's Ottawa bureau chief. She manages the Ottawa and Quebec City bureaus, and hosts and produces "Follow-Up," a HuffPost Canada Politics podcast.

Before joining HuffPost in 2011, Althia worked as a national political reporter for Postmedia News. She has covered Parliament Hill on and off since 2006, writing for Sun Media, and producing for CTV and for CBC Radio's "The House." 

She appears every Wednesdays on "Power & Politics" on the CBC News Network, is a frequent "At Issue" panelist on CBC-TV's "The National" on Thursdays, and can be seen and heard on various CPAC programs throughout the week.

Monsef Just Insulted The People Helping Liberals Keep Their Word

Maryam Monsef showed no desire to hold a referendum, blaming the committee for not achieving consensus on the issue. She is moving ahead with the next phase of her outreach, she said, announcing the launch of a new consultation process -- in the middle of the holiday season.

Liberals Are Misleading Canadians On Electoral Reform (Blog)

Is it because a consensus is forming not around a ranked ballot -- which is what Prime Minister Justin Trudeau previously said he preferred -- but rather around the NDP and Green Party's preferred option of a proportional system as long as Canadians, in a referendum, say they want it? Despite their claims, do the Liberals truly have the "broad support" of Canadians in mind when it comes time to put forth a new electoral system?
