Casey Vander Ploeg

Senior Policy Analyst, Canada West Foundation

Casey G. Vander Ploeg serves as a Senior Policy Analyst with the Canada West Foundation. Casey has been with the Foundation for 20 years, joining the staff in 1991 as a research assistant. During his tenure at Canada West, Casey has authored or co-authored over 75 research reports and policy studies and also taken the lead role on numerous Foundation research projects and public policy initiatives.

Casey’s work on municipal finance and infrastructure has drawn significant attention, and has established him as one of Canada's foremost experts in the area. Casey is a sought-after speaker at national conferences and a regular contributor and commentator on these issues in the media.

Prior to joining the Canada West Foundation, Casey worked as a news reporter and columnist with an award-winning weekly newspaper in southern Alberta. Casey holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Lethbridge, where he studied under former Canada West President and CEO Dr. David Elton.
