Chase Pelletier

Chase has been a student at the Academy of Martial Arts for over 11 years. Being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) at age 10, he hasn't let it get in the way of a very active and exciting lifestyle recently achieving his Shodan (1st degree Black Belt) ranking in Karate as well as racing at the highest levels of karting in Canada. He is just one example of living a healthy, full life with T1D and was one of the early inspirations behind Karate Chops Diabetes

Karate Chopping Away at Diabetes

I haven't let diabetes slow me down for one second or stand in the way of my dreams. It isn't always easy, but it has made me stronger. Karate has helped me a lot. Nothing comes easy when you train; it takes dedication to train so that you can react effectively when it really counts. Managing diabetes is like that.
