Empowering Girls and Women Globally

G(irls)20 was the first social profit enterprise to advocate that female labour force participation (FLFP) be a key element of G20 priorities and actions. The G(irls)20 Summit brings together one delegate from each G20 country, plus a representative from the European and African Unions, the MENA region, Afghanistan and Pakistan. In keeping with the G20 Turkey Presidency, a delegate from Azerbaijan, Singapore and Spain will also join this year's Summit. While the G(irls)20 delegates discuss the same topics as the G20 Leaders, the participants are all girls, aged 18-23. The 6th G(irls)20 Summit will be held on October 5th & 6th, 2015 in Istanbul. The focus of the 2015 Summit is to respond to the 2014 G20 Leaders commitment to create 100 million new jobs for women by the year 2025.

My life's story has led me on this path to wanting to make access to decent, empowering work available to women through the acquisition of tradeable skills. We Can Empower Women Through Education

What can G20 leaders do to economically engage and empower girls and women? Put simply, they need to invest in the re-structuring of the educational, business and political systems which are set up to inhibit female empowerment. Education is the essential catalyst for this process. Education is essential if a girl is to become independent.

A G20 Leader Who Walks The Talk

As soon as Trudeau walks in, everyone, and I mean everyone including CEOs, politicians and senior level bureaucrats from around the world move in his direction. They want to shake the hand of, and take a selfie with, the newly elected Prime Minister of Canada.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun(damental) Human Rights

As of 2014, 143 out of 195 countries legally guarantee equality between men and women. I wish I could say that gender equality, or any equality, enforced by the law translates into equality in the minds of people. Deeply rooted problems preventing true parity have been promoted by patriarchy for years, passed on from one generation to another disguised as 'tradition.'

Catalyzing Female Labour Force Participation In Pakistan

Pakistan is a diverse country and females account for a large portion of the population. Recently, it has becoming increasingly difficult to discuss the challenges that Pakistani women face. There is a dire need to promote the education of females by launching awareness campaigns at the national level, because in order to educate a nation, you need to educate its women.

What Turkey Hosting the G20 Summit Means to Me

Since gender equality is one of the most important issues in terms of sustainable and healthy growth, Turkey has launched a new engagement group, Women20 (W20), which will concentrate on enhancing the role and increasing the participation of women in business. In addition to gender equality, ensuring women have access to financial assets will form the backbone of global growth.
