Much to the joy of fanboys, trekkies and WoW players alike, women everywhere are embracing Geek Chic this year!

We're not quite sure where this emerging trend surfaced from, Dr. Sheldon Cooper is currently crunching the numbers and doing the math, but a quick search on Pinterest for "Geek Chic" proves it's real and it's rampant!

And the galaxy (see what we did there?) of opportunity is endless!

For fashionistas looking to rock the look from head to toe, it's never been easier with popular stores such as H&M and Forever21 offering a wide selection of geek chic wear! Just looking to adopt a geek chic style tip or two? Much easier than learning Klingon! Regardless of how you wear it, you're going to be representing one of the year's most popular fashion trends!

And we wouldn't be a fashion forward community if we didn't talk about it! Now would we?

Image via AudreyMagazine.com

Still trying to decide what exactly is Geek Chic?

Geek Chic:

Clothing or accessories that are very geeky/nerdy and yet, at the same time, says "I'm cool because I'm proud of the fact that I'm a nerd, and am not afraid to dress the part."

What could be more #BoPo than that?

So in honour of our proud geek sisters everywhere, we thought we'd share our favourite Geek Chic trends so that all BeauCoo fashionistas can rock the look too! No pocket protector required!

1. Embrace Your Skinnies & Crops

Skinny jeans and cropped pants have been on every fashionista's radar for awhile now and coloured skinnies and crops have been everywhere from H&M shop windows to the hipster scene. But guess what! Geeks were owning this look long before we were! They're also essential to completing your geek look!

While solid blacks, greys and browns will work, brightly coloured or printed will draw lots of attention to your excellent personal style. We love these red cropped skinnies spotted on Pinterest! And BeauCoo's very own Chelsea is rocking some pink skinnies from H&M!

Want to take it to the next level? Why not try a cute pair of girly suspenders to complete the look?

2. Own Your Graphic Tee

It doesn't matter what your brother says, graphic T-shirts aren't only for fanboys and people who play in bands. And this year, cute fitted graphic tees for women are everywhere! We're even spotting them on BeauCoo here, here and here!

Whether you want to throw it back to the '80s and rock a Star Wars or Gem and the Holograms tee or show off your affection for owls or kittens, this look is perfect for an afternoon movie or a concert with friends and looks great when paired with jeans or your Geek Chic cropped pants! Fashionistas can easily find cute graphic tees that won't break the bank at stores like Forever21, H&M or Hot Topic! Feeling adventurous? Check out your local comic book shop to see their selection and maybe meet a cute fanboy or two! And at the end of the day, you can always just be really obvious if you choose!

3. Strut Your Oxfords

This classic footwear choice is not only a true Geek staple item but Oxfords are still as chic as ever. We love these Oxfords worn in this Geek Chic look spotted on Pinterest! While the classic Oxford style is alive and well, we're seeing more and more variations of the original that even include Oxford heels!

Want to add some colour to your look? Try a coloured pair to dress up a neutral pair of cropped pants like these blue velvet Oxfords from Target! Looking for something a little flirtier? Why not try an Oxford inspired flat, such as the Verna flat from Nordstroms or the dual-coloured MCFIE design by Steve Madden. Not only will your feet appreciate a break from the heels, you'll look chic and professional wherever your day takes you in Oxfords.

4. Rock the Lenses

Prescription or not, there's never been a cooler time to wear specs! If you're already a glasses wearer, it may be time to think about getting a new or second pair! If you don't require glasses, who says you can't fake it? At the very least, you can embrace a new pair of Geek chic inspired sunglasses!

When it comes to Geek Chic glasses, we're huge fans of the Crosby by Warby Parker! Not only will these help you embrace your inner geek, when you purchase a pair of glasses from Warby Parker, they will donate a pair to someone in need! If you're not in need of a new pair of glasses but need some geek shades to fight the rays, you can never go wrong with a great pair of Ray-Bans!

Are you into the Geek Chic? We'd love to hear what Geek means to you and how you embrace your inner Geek with fashion!
Don't let the name fool you! This suit won't always be office appropriate but rock this look for lunch and shopping with the girls by day and hitting up martini hour at night and you'll steal the show! No wardrobe or shoe change necessary!

If we lost you at shorts suit, here's the 411. Much like a normal business suit, blouse and blazer still apply but instead of your dress pants -- your bottoms are dress shorts! Short-shorts or knee length, you can be as modest or flirty as you want!

Image via Tom and Lorenzo

Still need convincing? Here's how to rock the look either way!

1) The Modest Look -- Office Chic

If your workplace has a relaxed dress code, or just so happens to be very fashion-forward, the shorts suit will be the perfect spring and summer alternative to the usual business suit with dress pants! For short's length, look for just above the knee (for fashion-forward workplaces) or knee length, to stay office appropriate. Additionally, try to find shorts that are relaxed and loose! While tight shorts may be great for a night of dancing, they probably won't fly at the office!

If you're trying to stay modest, avoid bright colours and stick to traditional suit colours such as black, white, grey or dark blue. We love these sateen belted shorts by Express. Bright colours may draw attention to the look and bring office appropriateness into question! To keep it classy, wear with a closed toe pair of flats or heels. Not comfortable showing much leg at the office? Pair with opaque tights to complete the look.

Friendly BeauCoo tip? If you're not sure if this look will impress or distress your boss, always check with your company's dress code first!

2. The Afternoon Look -- Lunch Date Chic

If you're heading out for lunch and shopping with your best friends for the day, the shorts suit is a great choice this spring and summer. Because you're answering to no one, feel free to go as short as you'd like in length for the shorts and rock those bright colours such as neons and pastels that are in this spring! We're nuts about these high-waisted mint metallic tweed shorts!

If the forecast is calling for a warm day, choose a three-quarter sleeve blazer and a tank top to wear underneath. The blazer will keep you warm in the air conditioned stores and will be easily removable as you stroll down outdoor shopping plaza sidewalks. If you're planning to be on your feet all day, opt for a cute pair of matching flats or sandals or look for a stacked or wedge heel to keep your feet comfortable! Want to add a fun old-school touch? Complete this look with a Cher Horowitz inspired knee-sock!

3) The Flirty Look -- Night Out Sexy

If you're heading to a club opening, date night at a wine or sushi bar or just flying by the seat of your pants (or should we say shorts) this look will take you wherever you need to go for your night on the city. Go as short as you'd like for your shorts and choose from a variety of sexy colours to be a show stealer. We love these faux-leather shorts from Forever 21.

Whether you go black and white or vixen red, wearing a shorts suit on the town will draw attention to all the right places but especially your legs! Elongate them with a pair of matching or coloured pumps! If you're not comfortable showing that much skin on the town, add a pair of patterned or lace tights to finish the look!

Are you a fan of the shorts suit? Will you be rocking it this spring? Already rocking it? Snap a photo and share with our community at BeauCoo.com! We'd love to hear what you think and how you're sporting the look!

Whether you're off to Emerald City to see the Wizard or not -- one thing's for sure! Emerald is in!

While many of us are still digging out of blizzards, escaping south to warmer temperatures, and embracing our winter accessories, spring is in the air. Well, in the fashion world at least.

As spring styles and trends hit our stores and add a little warmth to the shopping experience in the cold that is winter, we're noticing one huge trend that seems to be everywhere. Green! And more specifically, emerald green!

Not only a St. Patty's day staple item, this colour was everywhere at New York Fashion Week in February. Just look at these designer frocks straight off the runway.

We're so excited about this new emerald trend, we wanted to share some of our favourite looks that will not only set you apart but grant you Emerald City access any day!

1) Casual Emerald

Planning a casual night on the town? Catching a flick? Meeting friends for drinks? A pop of emerald will add the perfect touch to your outfit! If you're going for the dressy look (maybe it's date night or dancing with the girls), why not rock an emerald sleeveless top (we love this Rebecca Taylor one!) or an embellished tank with skinny jeans and heels. Cover up with a blazer that you can easily remove later in the evening if the mood hits you! Want something more casual? May we suggest an emerald cardigan with a pair of dark jeans? When paired with brown boots or flats -- you'll look casual and in-style in no time.

2) Office Emerald

Looking to add a pinch of spring to your look at work? Why not consider an emerald blouse paired with black or grey dress pants for the boardroom? Whether worn alone or underneath a black blazer, the emerald will transform any office outfit into one that get's noticed. Want to make an even bolder statement? Rock an emerald blazer for an extra eye-catching look. We're loving this one by Candie's at Kohls.

3) Sexy Emerald

If a classy night on the town is in your calendar or an upcoming soiree at a charity event or dinner, the look that will turn the most heads is definitely the sparkling emerald one. While sequins and bedazzling reminiscent of the roaring '20s have been special occasion favourites for a while now, turning heads in emerald sequins is the new game changer. Dazzle in this belted frock by Ellen Tracy.

4) Emerald Accessories

Whether you're wearing it or carrying it, you too can rock the emerald city look simply by adding one accent piece to your entire ensemble. Looking to dress up a trenchcoat? Why not opt for an emerald scarf? Ready to retire your winter bag and opt for a pop of colour for the spring? We love Coach's Legacy Leather Large Duffle. Are you looking to sneak in a splash of emerald without being too obvious? Try a sparkling pair of emerald rhinestone drop earrings.

5) Emerald Walk

Lastly, if you're a fan of coloured shoes, then the addition of a pair of emerald pumps is a must but if you're known for playing it safe with black and browns, now is the time to take the leap! The Zoee heel in emerald by Coach is a low heel, perfect for the office or a casual night on the town. Want something a little sexier? Why not try emerald snake skin, as seen in these Kate Spade pumps. Hoping to stay closer to the ground? Try an emerald ballet flat -- similar to these clover flats by Tieks!

Have you purchased your first emerald item for the spring? Already a fan of the colour? Undecided? My scale and I have always had a love-hate relationship.

There are days that it makes me feel great. There are others that I want to smash it to pieces. So yes, maybe in addition to the love-hate relationship, we also have an unhealthy one where I want to break it.

That was my first sign right there.

The day I kicked my scale to the curb was a day I felt a huge weight lifted from my shoulders. Ten pounds lighter. Ironic right? But the minute I stopped obsessing over my weight and learned to love what I had and be #BoPo (body positive) regardless of what any scale said -- I began to feel better about myself.

Here's the thing about scales.

They are sneaky and full of trickery. They can't always be trusted. For example, it's suggested that if you want an efficient, reliable scale you should pay more for the fancier ones with all the bells and whistles. The digital ones, they say. Because these ones are the most accurate ones.

That's great then. You buy yourself the fancy digital one and start to track your weight. Things are going great. That is until you visit a friend and when powdering your nose in their bathroom, notice their scale looking at you. Calling at you.

Step on me! See what I say!

And then you do.

And one of two things happens. One, it tells you that you weigh more than yours at home, causing you to panic and think "But this one is digital too! How can it be wrong?" and of course, proceed to feel defeated. The other option? Other than the number being the same, which, let's face it -- when does that ever happen? It says you weigh less. While some would assume that you would immediately feel victorious and scream your excitement to the shower, the sink, and the jacuzzi tub in the room -- most of us would be set into a tailspin of wonderment.

Is this scale lying? Is my scale lying? Who's telling the truth?!

And here lay the root of the evil that are scales. Not only can they not be trusted and change their minds more often than not -- these lifeless pieces of technology have many of us wrapped around their little finger. Why? Because society and the media have given us the mindset that we are expected to be a certain weight to be healthy and happy. And while your health is extremely important (please don't think for two seconds that it's not), if you think your scale may be at risk of destroying your mental health, it's time to go your separate ways.

If you don't think you can kick the scale to the curb but your mood is instantly ruined by stepping on the scale or if you find yourself obsessing over it, even worrying about how many decimal points you are away from the number you want, we're begging you.

Take some trial separation from it.

Five Signs You Need To Reconsider Your Relationship With Your Scale

1) If your mood is ruined or fluctuates based on what the number on the scale says -- it's time to have the talk. Your scale shouldn't change your perspective or your outlook on the day. Don't let it.

2) If you lay in bed awake at night, worrying about what the scale will say in the morning, it's time for the scale to sleep on the front porch, or at the very least, the couch downstairs.

3) If you are weighing yourself more than once a day -- is it because the scale is taunting you? Or because you're happy with what you're seeing before you? If it evokes a positive feeling, keep on weighing yourself. But if each step onto the scale makes you feel slightly worse, the scale needs to relocate.

4) If you are removing every piece of clothing and jewelry to ensure you see the lowest number possible on the scale -- ask yourself why. Will that bracelet really make that big of a difference? And will that difference ruin your day if you don't remove it?

5) If you find yourself skipping meals before weigh ins, this is a serious matter and definitely a sign that your scale needs to move on. If weight loss is something you are very serious about, it may be time to talk to your doctor or a nutritionist to find a healthy, safe way to reach your goals.

You are not a number. You are a beautiful person, inside and out, and the scale and its range of numbers do not define you.

If you're a hopeless romantic, you've been anticipating today for weeks. You've carefully selected the perfect Valentine card, the sweetest box of chocolates and you more than likely have an elaborate date night planned with your honey.

Then there's the rest of us, that somehow, Valentine's Day snuck up on.

Sure there were the hints at the mall, at the grocery store -- anywhere that sells chocolate and cards. But none of usreally let that sink in nor did we start planning the perfect Valentine's Day date weeks in advance like our Valentine's Day loving sisters who keep Hallmark in business.

Whether you've known what you're doing tonight for Valentine's Day for awhile now or you've just happened to find out this morning or still have no idea -- the last thing you should have to worry about today is how to look great tonight for your sweetheart!

We would much rather see you leave work early to hit the spa for a blowout or a manicure, for your evening out than get into argument with your closet or rush through the mall to find something, anything, that will do the trick.

Here are three great last minute outfits you probably already have in your closet or could quickly find if you decide to make a pilgrimage to the mall!

Oh -- did we mention they're inspired by what the ladies are wearing on BeauCoo?

1) The Little <strike>Black</strike> Coloured Dress

We're all for the little black dress. And yes -- if you're in a pinch, it would be a great option for your evening out tonight, especially if you're headed to a nice restaurant or Valentine's Day party or event. Just throw on some chunky jewelry, a pair of coloured heels. Done!

But if you're looking to dress up this year -- may we suggest a brightly coloured A-Line dress? If you take a peek at the ladies on BeauCoo right now -- bright pinks, reds and blues are all the rage! And we think a cute red or pink dress would add the perfect Valentine's Day touch, no? Want to take a walk on the wild side? Try a fifties style pinup print like polka dots!

2) Pretty in Lace

If the A-Line dress is a little fancy or just not your style but you'd still like to wear a dress for your Valentine's date night -- a lace dress with short or long sleeves paired with a coloured tights and heels will help you look innocently sweet but still provide a hint of naughty.

While we love some of the colours we are seeing out there on lace dresses in stores such as dark greens, royal blues and the ever sultry black, if you're trying to dress the look down but want to still have some fun - the power lay in your choice of tights! You could go traditional and stick with black tights or you could have some fun with bright colours such as the holiday red!

3) There's Nothing Blase About a Sexy Blouse!

If you're V-Day plans are a little lower key than a fancy night on the town or dresses aren't exactly your thing - there's always plan B. This year, the spring collections have just seem to hit the stores and bright coloured blouses are everywhere!

Trying to look festive? We recommend a red or pink blouse with a pair of dark skinny jeans. Red or Pink not your colour? Opt for a charming emerald green or a dark royal blue. Complete with your favourite black blazer, jewelry of choice and a great pair of heels or flats and we just know your Valentine's Day outfit will be a heart stopper.

Whether he brought good news or bad, as February begins for those in colder climates, the truth is bitter cold -- winter has a ways to go yet! Some of you may be enjoying this knowledge by hitting the slopes and rocking out as a ski bunny -- the BeauCoo bunnies approve! Others may be getting out of dodge and heading South to the land of palm trees!

But regardless of your winter plans or how much you love snow, for some, the winter blues are inevitable! So how do you begin to beat them?

By shopping of course!

While you could easily go back to sleep like Punxsutawney Phil -- we think it would be a quite a bit more fun to indulge in some new winter accessories!

Cold climate or not, here are the top five accessories every fashionista should have on her this winter!

1) A Fashionable Beanie

Whether you live in Southern California or Northern Canada, you can always rock a great beanie in the winter months. If you're feeling creative, you can make one at home! If DIY isn't your thing, hit up your local American Eagle or H&M to find one or two or three! That's right -- not only do we love a good beanie! We love options! While a neutral colour such as grey or black may seem appropriate on a gloomy winter day, you may decide to switch things up and sport a coloured beanie on another day! Want even more fun? Find a bedazzled beanie (you can easily make one yourself -- no knitting required!) or show off one with a knitted flower or bow!

2) Go Plaid

While we're a huge fan of the pashmina or silk scarf at BeauCoo, we know they're not always the warmest choice in the winter months, (especially a silk scarf) which is why we love a great cashmere or flannel plaid scarf! The larger the better! Whether yours is from Burberry or the Gap, these trendy scarves will look great with your peacoat and boots or paired with jeans, a denim shirt and flats. And the best part about any scarf? With dozens of ways to tie them -- you can always switch it up!

3) Go Fingerless!

While texting gloves are all the rage -- if you've ever tried to actually text in them, you may have realized it can still be slightly problematic! If you're not facing Antarctic temperatures, the solution lay in fingerless gloves! Not only do these work in the winter months in warmer climates -- they can be great up north if mittens or regular gloves seem to be getting in the way! For added fun? Try bright colours or match your gloves with your chosen beanies! Still looking for added warmth? Bring along a pair of mittens to wear over top if the temperature drops!

4) Rock Knee Socks

Not just for private school girls on Gossip Girl -- knee socks (and especially wool knee socks) are not only a great choice in the winter -- they can make a huge fashion statement too! Whether you wear them alone with a skirt or shorts (for those in warmer climates, of course!) or you pair them with tights (brownie points if you add them to coloured tights!) a great pair of knee socks will keep your legs warm, your toes toasty and have everyone coveting your style!

5) The Perfect Winter Bag

If you haven't already converted -- there's no better time than now to splurge on a new winter bag to get you through the next few months until warmer temperatures arrive! While a wide range of colours are in -- brown and black leathers to reds and greens that pop -- one thing's for sure: Big is in! After all, you need somewhere to stash that cute beanie, the oversized plaid scarf and those fingerless gloves once you get inside! Oh and don't forget everything else that would normally go into your purse!

There was this feeling at the pit of my stomach that I just had to get a pregnancy test. My woman's intuition told me so and you just can't ignore that. So I took one. OK, maybe five. I needed to be sure. I went into the bathroom, did the deed and waited. Staring at this stick, like a magic wand ready to tell me my future, I began to panic. What if it says YES? What if it says NO? I was worried I wouldn't know how to react. So I waited for what seemed like half a day. And then, after three minutes I glanced down at the magic wand and it read "pregnant."

Silence.

I was expecting a marching band, some fireworks and maybe Oprah to appear. I mean, this really is a magical moment. I sat there not knowing what to do. There were no instructions, there were no tips or how-to's, and there were certainly no fireworks. I was scared. Not so much about growing a baby, but scared about what was going to happen to my body.

Will I gain weight?
Will I be sick?
Will I lose the figure I have been so proud to call my own?

It took awhile to actually start looking like I was pregnant. I had the typical basketball bump. I slowly watched the scale increase, my pants size get bigger and people around me start to really notice that I was "getting rounder."

It was a little discouraging (note: I was reaching my two month marker in training for a half marathon knowing full well I wouldn't be able to run it) but it was incredible. I was growing a mini-me inside of me! When the reality finally hit I was fully accepting of the adventure ahead regardless of the toll on my body. I ate better, I ran more and I even submitted a portfolio to become a pregnant model. I wasn't this confident even before I got pregnant. Maybe it was the hormones, the (potentially) excessive chocolate consumption, or the fact that I was glowing. Whatever it was, I was feeling on top of the world.

Image Courtesy of Renée Warren of Onboardly

Though I had some low days, and I mean low days, I stuck them out and kept up with a positive mindset. Here is how I did it:

1. Knew I was creating life (This IS magical)

2. Kept up with my health (eating well kept me feeling trim and sexy)

3. Openly shared the hardships with close friends. They are incredible support systems.

4. Took advantage of people opening the door, giving up a seat, or adding me to the front of the line at my favourite breakfast spot.

5. Knew that my dress size was not a number to be judged by.

6. That it was OK to not see my toes. As it was a blessing to not have to see those swollen feet anyway!

7. Heels were more comfortable than flats

8. There would just be some bodily functions you can't control and that's OK (blame the baby ;)

Then, on August 17, 2012 my son was born. Wow. Holy friggin' emotional mess. This doesn't compare to the moment the magical wand told me I was having this baby. It doesn't compare to the many times my husband said I was a GORGEOUS pregnant women. And it certainly doesn't compare to the time only three months after his birth that I fit into my skinny jeans again. (Wowzer!)

The toll on my body will forever remain, but my heart has grown bigger and my confidence much stronger knowing that I created the most beautiful life I could possibly imagine.

Pregnancy is not easy. It can be exhausting, disgusting, boring and a pain-in-the-ass. But what it should not be is a phase in your life to feel down on how you look. YOU are beautiful no matter what. Whether my words mean anything or not, you are in the process of creating something phenomenal: another life.

In the fashion world, something is always considered in style. Whether it's a popular clothing item (coloured skinny jeans), a theme (nautical), or a new way of wearing things (there's always a new way to tie a scarf) -- the media and fashion industry are always on top of what's hot and what's not.

But what does in style even mean? As any of us from the '60s, '70s, '80s and '90s know, even after things go out of style, much like the earth continues to spin, these fashion trends will once again find their way back onto the in list. It's really only a matter of time before what's hot becomes what's not. And then repeat.

But if something is in style does that mean you have to wear it? More importantly, if a current trend is hot but when you wear it you feel anything but, should you still try to rock it?

The answer is no.

And not because it isn't the best choice for you but merely because after everything is said and done you just don't feel good in it.

"Style is very personal. It has nothing to do with fashion. Fashion is over quickly. Style is forever." - Ralph Lauren

Fashion comes and goes. One day it's in and the next it's out. Style and most importantly, your personal style will last forever. It will change over time and it will grow as you do the same. It will adapt to changes in your life, good and bad. It will reflect milestones. One day you may rock a wedding dress. Another you may rock maternity wear. And inevitably, one day you'll trade in your heels for something with a little more grip to push that sexy new walker you're sporting.

But no matter how your life changes, your style will always be yours.

So why would you ever wear something that didn't make you feel good?

While some staple fashion items will never go out of style (the little black dress for example) most things eventually will. And they will do so quickly. Which is the first reason why you should never sweat it if the in look isn't doing it for you. Sure you could try to make it work but for what reasons? Is it because you really want it to work or because you feel you have to?

Style is what you make it. It's personal and it should reflect who you are. So if you're not feeling that pair of Uggs or just don't feel comfortable in skinny jeans -- don't wear them. The fashion police won't come after you for not following the trends. Nor will they show up to apprehend you if you want to wear white after Labour Day. If you've ever put on an outfit and experienced any negative thoughts about the choice or yourself, toss it. It's not worth it. And it's definitely not helping you feel great. No matter what anyone's saying about it all over Pinterest.

Wear what makes you feel good. Your personal style. And when you do, know in your heart: You look fabulous.
Where Are All The Short Models?

In 2012, we saw some beautiful, curvaceous women rock runways around the world. We celebrated their beauty, cheered them on and counted another victory for the #BoPo movement.

But we couldn't help but notice that the fashion world still wasn't celebrating our petite sisters. From fashion week to the red carpet, there was a distinct lack of women under 5'4".

And we have a problem with that. Because we know that when we don't see ourselves reflected in mainstream images of beauty, our way of thinking can become warped, and we can actually start to believe that we aren't as beautiful or valuable as the models in magazines.

Petite Power

As a society, we've got a bad habit. Some people have a tendency to associate being tall with power and being petite with vulnerability. (Clearly these folks have never met the petite dynamos in my life. Seriously, don't mess with these women!)

"Though she be but little, she is fierce."
- William Shakespeare

It's high time that we take a step back and remember that power and strength have nothing to do with a measurement, and everything to do with who you are as a person. Whether you measure in at 4'10" or 5'8", it is your unique skills and abilities that make you powerful, not your stature.

When we make the choice to stop fighting our size, and embrace our own unique brand of beauty, we reclaim our power and we show the world that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes.

Express Yourself

Your style is the outward expression of your personality and inner beauty, and should never be limited by artificial standards. Don't deprive the world of the wonderful uniqueness that is you!

So, if you want to wear flats because (honestly) they are way more comfy than high heels? Rock 'em.

If you want to wear horizontal stripes because that nautical look is perfect for spring? Get it, girl!

And if you want to wear cropped pants to go with that fabulous striped shirt? More power to ya.

Because what really counts is wearing what makes you feel beautiful, no matter what the style 'experts' say. And that, my friends, is the true meaning of #BoPo.

Maybe you haven't found a job yet or maybe you're just about to start a new job. Either way, one look at your closet and you realize it's trying to tell you something.

You need to go from classroom to boardroom fast!

Maybe you're lining up interviews for that job you've worked so hard to get or preparing for your first day at the office. Knowing what to wear when you've grown comfortable in yoga pants, sweatpants and hoodies can be challenging. And while some may be jumping at the opportunity to finally have an excuse to go office glam, the transition can be daunting for others.

Well, we've got you covered. Here are the five staple items needed to rock the boardroom or ace the interview!

BLOG CONTINUES AFTER SLIDESHOW
<HH--236SLIDEEXPAND--263413--HH>

1. The Business Suit

Whether you are the epitome of girly girl or the poster child for sweatpants, every lady on the job needs at least one good, tailored business suit. The truth? It will probably be the most expensive piece of office attire you will buy, but if purchased with longevity and quality in mind, it will last a long time before you need to replace it.

It doesn't have to be fancy, the basic dress pant (more on that below) or pencil skirt (we love a chic black or coloured pencil skirt in the office) paired with a tailored blazer is all you need. Most traditional business suits (traditional doesn't have to mean boring!) are basic colours like black, gray or navy blue. If you're only planning on buying one and banking on it to last you a long time, we highly suggest going with black. It's timeless and always appropriate.

2. The Dress Pant
We get it. You really loved wearing Lululemons and sweats with your school's logo on the butt. And while this look was totally in on campus, it certainly won't fly in the office (nor will it get you a job during an interview).

It's time for you to accept that dress pants (or pencil skirts if you're feeling fun and flirtatious) are now part of your life. And -- except for casual Fridays -- you need to embrace them. Don't worry, your sweats and Lulus will be waiting for you when you get home every night.

Finding the perfect pair of tailored, well-fitted (this doesn't mean tight, we mean tailored to be appropriate and of the proper length) dress pants is easy because they have been the staple office item for decades. With black being the go-to colour (and gray a close second), they can be found as affordably as you'd like. From Walmart (we love the George dress pants for ladies) to Mexx or Club Monaco.

Plus, if you go with classic black, you can get away with wearing the same pair several times a week when paired with a variety of tops.

3. Top Variety
Every business suit and dress pant needs to be paired with a top or blouse. And while the traditional safe options are usually a white or black cotton blouse, there is always the option to have some coloured fun if colours are not specified in your dress code. So take the opportunity to switch up your office outfit and pair your bottoms with a soft blue or lavender blouse. You'll not only stand out, you'll bring a little colour to the office water cooler.

4. The Blazer
At BeauCoo, we love a great blazer -- and we love a great coloured blazer even more. While owning a great tailored blazer comes in very handy for interviews (we recommend sticking with black), the classic blazer comes in handy in many situations outside the office as well. Which is what you must remind yourself when you feel a pinch from purchasing your first blazer.

You will not only find yourself wearing it to the office, but you can sport it over a dress or with jeans for a night on the town as well. In the summer, have a little fun with a coloured blazer!

And for those of you still figuring out the whole laundry situation post-college, never throw your blazer in the washer. Always have it dry cleaned. The pain from a shrunken and/or ruined blazer hurts much more than the original cost.

5. The Office Shoe
Lastly, every office outfit must be paired with shoes. And with most offices following the traditional, no open toes, no slip-ons and no sandals policy -- you may be thinking you're limited. The trick is this: find one great pair of comfortable black shoes for all your office needs.

Maybe they won't be the sexiest flat or heel you've ever owned, but if purchased with comfort in mind and if you remind yourself that only people at the office will be seeing them, we promise you'll thank us when your feet aren't killing you at the end of the day.

Feeling the need to spice things up from time to time? Or impress the new employee in accounting? Bring a coloured heel to work to wear on occasion. Just remember to keep your comfortable office shoes nearby for when you need them most!

BeauCoo Tip: With student loan payments rolling in and access denied from the Bank of Mom and Dad, you may be terrified about purchasing office attire if you don't have any of the above mentioned items already. Trust us, you're not alone. Don't be afraid to browse the aisles of your favourite local thrift or consignment store. Or, as we mentioned above, brave the people of Walmart and check out their George collection. We not only promise you'll find everything you need, but that you won't break the bank and you'll look great on your first day too!

It's a new year! It's time for a new you!

And don't be mistaken -- we're not talking about resolutions to hit the gym, promises to adopt a clean eating diet or subscriptions to weight loss programs. We're talking about a new year of loving you! Just the way you are!

There's a new hashtag in town this year -- it's #BoPo and it represents all things body positive!

While staying in shape, eating a well-balanced diet and being healthy are important, they shouldn't define us. Nor should that extra slice of pizza be the end of the world. This year we challenge you to be more #BoPo in the ways that matter most. Not just inner beauty but loving and flaunting your outer beauty every woman has!

We know you've got it but here's seven ways to really show it in 2013!

1) Wear An Outfit You've Always Wanted To Wear

This is the year to finally set foot outside your home in that outfit you've always wanted to wear but never gathered the chutzpah to leave the house in. You know the one I'm talking about. It's the very one you've tried on a dozen times, admired in the mirror but it's never seen the light of day. You know you look awesome in it but for whatever reason, something is holding you back. Maybe it's risqué. Maybe you're worried others won't think it's flattering.

What matters is that you feel great in it. Wear it. Flaunt it. Own it this year.

2) Take a Selfie -- or Two or Three

While frowned upon when including the duckface, the famous selfie (a picture taken of yourself) has really become the norm on social media these days. And while you may have snapped a selfie or two this past year, you may have been too shy or nervous to share it. We've got news for you! Thanks to Facebook and Instagram everyone is sharing selfies! Even the BeauCoo bunnies!

So snap a selfie or two or three and share it! Better yet, snap some selfies of those great new styles you're rocking this year and share them on BeauCoo!

3) Start a Blog

While managing a blog may seem like a very private thing, it really isn't. Sure you're just a person behind a computer somewhere but sharing your life, hobbies and thoughts on a blog is still putting yourself out there for the world to see. If you've got a rocking fashion sense, share it with fashionistas everywhere! Our favorite fashionistas include Kelly Augustine of MASQUEmag and Blair Eadie of Atlantic-Pacific. And sure there's trolls out there who may try to be mean but last time we checked, trolls live under bridges. We're pretty sure you're way better than that!

If you've ever dreamed of starting a blog, do it in 2013. Share your life, your stories, your fashion, your passions. Don't let anyone say you can't.

4) Try a Bold New Lipstick

Lipstick has been around for centuries but these days a lot of women choose to play it safe with neutral colours instead of bold, bright reds à la Marilyn Monroe. Well that's just a shame. Feel sexier today by sporting a beautiful red hue on your lips at the office or on the town. Not sure how to pick the right colour for your skin tone? The folks at Huffington Post have got your back and we love Clinique's Chubby Stick Intense Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Mightiest Maraschino.

Pucker up today and feel instantly #BoPo.

5) Try A Workout For You

With the rise of weight loss programs and extreme workout routines that promise to shed the pounds we're far more into the ones that promote #BoPo and make you feel great about yourself. No push-ups or burpees involved. Try a burlesque or belly dance class. Take a turn on the pole at a pole dancing studio. Shake your rump at Zumba.

There are plenty of ways to have fun working out and feel sexy and great while doing so. Discover them in 2013.

6) Buy Something Sexy for You

Single or Dating. Engaged or Married. Young or Old. Everyone should experience the feeling of being sexy and sensual in lingerie. No matter what your shape or size, buy yourself a piece of lingerie to ignite your inner vixen. Flaunt it for your significant other or wear it just for yourself when you're vacuuming -- we don't judge!

Simply wearing sexy underwear that no one but yourself is aware of can make you instantly more confident. Try it today.

7) Step Away From the Scale

Most importantly, stop obsessing over what the scale says. While being healthy is important, the key to your health does not lie in the scale. It is just a number and it doesn't define you.

So don't let it.

Take the #BoPo challenge and dedicate 2013 to loving and feeling great just the way you are with BeauCoo!

And while we wish there were an easy way to tell you just how you can score your own pair of Louboutin's without the Louboutin price tag -- well, we're not that good.

But we can offer our secret tips on how to dress like a celebrity, walk like a celebrity and accessorize like a celebrity without the million-dollar pay day.

Here are a few of our tips to stealing a Hollywood look - without the help of your own Hollywood stylist, agent or wallet filled with Benjamin's.

Buy Their Lines
Several celebrities were nice enough to realize that while many of us love their styles, we can't exactly afford 95 per cent of what they wear. In what may have been their way of paying it forward, these celebs went ahead and created their own lines of clothing for us normal folk to buy! And we have to say -- we like what we see!

Lauren Conrad designed her own line exclusively for Kohl's that features everything from clothing to jewelry. While her prices aren't as affordable as, let's say, Forever 21 or H&M, they're still moderately priced and great quality.

Similarly, Kim Kardashian started ShoeDazzle to offer fabulous shoes to ladies who don't have the Louboutin budget. Kim recognized that every woman deserves to feel gorgeous, and acknowledged that her company was here to make it happen!

Identify Copycats
Clothing stores H&M and Forever 21 are notoriously known for selling items that are eerily similar to the ones sported by celebrities in movies, on TV and on the red carpet. No, you won't find a $20 version of the dress Scarlett Johansson dazzled in on the red carpet at the Oscars, but you may find an entire outfit for under $50 that's similar to one worn by Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl.

Hit up your closest Forever 21 or H&M and don't be afraid to ask their sales guys or gals if they have something similar to what you're looking for. We've heard that Forever 21 will put items together or showcase similar fashions in areas of their stores to highlight current styles being worn on shows like Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars. Makes things that much easier!

Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend
Even Holly Golightly couldn't afford Tiffany's in Breakfast at Tiffany's, but that didn't stop her from looking fabulous at all times. We should first remind our readers that most celebrity bling you see on the red carpet has been very graciously lent to the celebrity to wear that night. In some cases, jewelers may have even begged the pretty famous faces to wear their diamonds (how do we get that gig, right?) But the real secret is: You can look just as sparkly in faux-diamonds yourself.

Want the diamond look, but don't have the diamonds? We recommend you discover the cubic zirconia. In some cases, those magnificent jewels on display in some of the world's most famous jewelry stores are just that -- CZs (for security purposes of course). While a diamond expert may know the difference, your wicked entourage probably won't.

Brave the Bright Lights
A must-have for any celebrity is a good pair of sunglasses to blind them from the light of those camera flashes and help hide their identity when traveling in the light of day. And while most designer shades worn on celebrities may be out of your price range, there are ways to replicate even the best designer styles!

We recommend hitting up your local H&M or Aldo Accessories! These stores usually carry sunglasses that are strikingly similar to popular brands like Ray-Bans or Chanel, but without the price tag. Now don't forget to work on your Hollywood "take cover" move!

At the end of the day, just remember one thing! Just because you're not part of Hollywood, doesn't mean you aren't sexy and perfect in your own right. So be fabulous in whatever fashionable attire you put together from your closet. The number one rule to Hollywood? Own it.

If you aren't bracing yourself for the end of the world on December 21, you're scouting zombie-proof bunkers for the zombie apocalypse, right?

Well, whether you think you're prepared or not for the return of the dead, we've got news for you. If you can survive the mall on Boxing Day, we're pretty confident you could survive a zombie apocalypse.

You may still be mentally preparing yourself for the arrival of Santa, the consumption of mass amounts of delicious holiday goodness and surviving the hugs of dozens of relatives (some may argue this is worse than zombies) -- that's cool. But we know our fashionista followers are really bracing themselves for the shopping marathon happening on December 26 (or 27 depending on your location!)

Here are five tips to surviving <s>a zombie apocalypse</s> Boxing Day at the mall:

Zombie Apocalypse or Boxing Day at the Mall?

1) Layer Up

Depending on your location, the weather may be a bit chilly in those early hours of the morning as you get in line to score that 50-inch TV or be the first to enter the mall to gain access to the Aldo shoe sale you've dreamed of all December. Dress for the outdoor weather (leave your coat in the car if you can once the doors open) and wear a tank top and leggings if possible underneath any remaining layers.

Dressing room lines will be long and some retailers choose not to open their dressing rooms at all on Boxing Day. By wearing thin, tight clothing underneath, you can try on items in the store, reducing time spent in lines and maximizing your mall coverage. You can also move much faster in less clothing to escape <s>zombies</s> or crazed shoppers.

2) Wear Your Runners

It's true. Any <s>zombie apocalypse</s> Boxing Day shopping expert knows, there will be running, dodging and potentially leaping to score those limited items that everyone wants this year. Choose shoes that will not only increase your performance but try to find a pair that slip on and off easily. This will come in handy when you have merely seconds to grab, try on and buy that last pair of size eight boots on the shelf. Lastly, always remember to stretch before heading to the mall on Boxing Day. Warmed up limbs are way more effective.

3) Leave Your Purse Home

It will only drag you down. With hoards of people shoving and pushing, trying to get into the very store that your golden ticket item hangs in, you can't afford to be dragged down by your Michael Kors bag. Carry the essentials -- cash (makes for easier and quick transactions) your debit or credit card and some identification (just in case). Emergency first aid kit optional.

4) Bring a Sidekick

There is safety in numbers. Similarly, there are shopping successes in numbers but only if you're paired up (responsibility for the lives of too many will only hamper your <s>survival</s> shopping efforts as friends get lost in the crowds). Your boyfriend or husband will work best for the exact reason that you won't have to fight him for the last pair of Tory Burch ballet flats but your best friend will also suffice if she can be trusted not to snatch those limited items you're after.

Sidekicks come in especially handy if there are two stores who both have lineups for that door crasher you've just got to have -- together you can divide and conquer. If you're in a dressing room and need the next size up , your bestie can probably get that item to you faster than any store clerk swamped with requests.

5) Carry Snacks

Sustenance is key to survival and not only will having some tasty snacks stashed in your pockets keep your energy at its best. If you're carrying delicious treats, you can always use them as bribery if it comes down to a battle over that last size 12 BCBG dress with someone who looks faint.

With these tips you'll not only survive the mall on Boxing Day -- those zombies won't stand a chance when the apocalypse comes.

I'll be honest, I caught a glimpse of the show. Then curiosity got the better of me, so taking a cue from the suggestion to use the shows hashtag (#VSFashionShow) I turned to social media to gauge the pulse of the chatter.

Something is wrong here.

While some comments were entertaining and reflective of my own harmless thoughts, the general theme seemed to suggest women everywhere were eating their feelings and feeling negatively about themselves while watching.

There were regrets of dinner choices that day. Promises to hit gym religiously in the morning. Few and far between were the positive comments from female viewers about their own body or the empowerment they felt as they watched the 6 foot+ models walk the stage. While I understood the appeal of the annual show, it pained me to think of the negative thoughts it provoked in its female viewership.

Which led to me think, would we as women feel more empowered and positive about our own body image if the models varied in sizes? And I'm not referring to a size 0 to size 4. What if the famous Angels featured a tall, curvy beauty like Robyn Lawley or Whitney Thompson? What kind of positive affect would it have on female viewers?

I'd argue a substantial one.

The marketers behind the show are firm on their beliefs that their lingerie is created to help women feel sensual and embrace their sexuality -- it's not aimed at the men at all. It's aimed at the women. Which is the root of my confusion. Where are the fabulous women of every size representing all women? A size 16 woman has the right to feel just as sensual in lingerie as a size 2.

Men are already quick to admit that skinny isn't always their preferred body type and that curves are not only a good thing -- they're a great thing. Women, unfortunately, are still prone to think otherwise when viewing women much smaller than themselves. The tables seem to turn, however, when we see a woman similar to us in size looking confident and great.

Recently, a friend of mine mentioned that she caught an episode of a popular sitcom and noticed one of the beautiful female leads seemed a bit heavier than she remembered. Instead of being quick to judge -- she actually felt better about herself as she noticed the various areas in which they were similar (wider legs, thicker arms, etc.) It was never about criticizing the actress but more about thinking, "hmmm -- she's gorgeous, guys everywhere love her and she's my size." She immediately felt better about herself and a renewed sense of confidence.

While it's impossible for women to avoid being around others who are smaller, taller, bigger busted or any other body aspect we tend to admire and want, the increase of plus size models in clothing advertisements and on TV is a large step in the right direction to renewing a sense of pride in our bodies; regardless of whether we're slim or full-figured. It's about being inspired by others to feel beautiful ourselves -- inside and out.

Women need to see more women like themselves. The average weight of an American woman is 164.7lbs. To put things into perspective, the average weight of a Victoria's Secret model is 110 lbs. Yet women will focus on the idea that they need to equal a weight that's anything but average instead of being happy with their own weight, which is realistically much closer to what statistics and our culture declares normal.

It was this notion that made the creation of BeauCoo so important. Women inspiring other women -- of all sizes -- and reminding each other that beauty does not lie in a size 0 nor is it restricted to a weight category or shape. Women need to actively see other women their size looking flawless and sexy. It not only helps remind us that we look great, it empowers us to continue to believe in ourselves when these reminders aren't near.
