Matt Gibson

Writer, photographer, award-winning outdoors adventure blogger and CEO at Xpat.Media

Matt Gibson is an award-winning Canadian outdoors and adventure writer and photographer , President of the Professional Travel Bloggers Association, and CEO of Xpat.Media, an agency that helps travel companies develop their blogging and social media marketing strategies and work with travel bloggers.

Matt once disregarded some very sensible advice at a motorcycle shop in Borneo and ended up driving a motorcycle up the side of Mount Kinabalu at night, with no headlights. The following day he drove the motorcycle across the flooding Bornean countryside through a tropical monsoon for eight hours.

He's also flipped kayaks in large lakes without a life vest, followed corrupt Guatemalan soldiers with large guns through protected Mayan temples in the middle of the night, and climbed a pile of bat poop taller than the house he lived in.

He lived for six years in one of the oldest neighborhoods in Taiwan, learned learned to speak Mandarin Chinese like a six-year-old, and appeared in a very fake episode of House Hunter's International.

He also lived for 8 months in a Guatemalan village on the shore of Lake Atitlan and learned to speak Spanish like an 8-month-old.

He currently spends most of his time in South East Asia speaking at travel industry events about blogging, social media, and online marketing, running Xpat.Media, and chasing interesting stories and unusual adventures.
