Sunday Roundup: Sorry to Interrupt the Super Bowl

| Posted 02.05.2012 | Canada

Hey there! Over here! Actually, right behind you. Sorry to interrupt The Game. Or rather, the pre-game. Or the pre-game game. Did you hear that The Huffington Post will be launching a Quebec edition this week? I know, right? They just launched France, and now Quebec. "Le Huffington Post." Sounds like a cigarette. In Quebec's case, a cigarette with cheese curds and gravy -- and really, really good news and content, like the other HuffPost sites, except better because it's in French.

Has Madonna Still Got It? No.

| Posted 02.06.2012 | Canada

I know many women found Madonna's performance "empowering"-- but I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean. It's empowering that a 53-year-old woman can stay fit, pull on thigh-high boots, and prance around a stage dry humping gay dancers?

Sunday Roundup: My PM Went to China and All He Brought Back Was a Lousy Panda?

| Posted 02.12.2012 | Canada

How YouTube-adorable are those pandas we are going to be hosting? Apparently panda fur is not soft and fluffy, but tough and bristly like a shoe brush (or so someone once told me who'd actually pet a panda). Which is also a good way of describing Stephen Harper's trip to China. It was similar to that of a jilted girlfriend driving past her ex with a new beau. It seemed to have worked -- at least upon some American lawmakers critical of Obama's recent decision to kill the Keystone XL pipeline. While the Canadian leader was courting his Chinese suitors, our American leader was joining our new team in Quebec for the much-anticipated launch of Le Huffington Post on Wednesday.

Why I Dread, Nay Fear, Valentine's Day

| Posted 02.14.2012 | Canada

2012-02-14-heartskenny.jpgThe reason I dread and fear Valentine's Day is because, despite being a happily married woman for nearly a quarter-century, my husband has loathed the holiday from the beginning. Why you ask? Why, if your husband is happily married too, would he not wish to express that happiness?

Sunday Roundup: I Didn't Start the Fire

| Posted 02.19.2012 | Canada

Happy Family Day weekend to those Canadians lucky enough to have tomorrow off. The Internet never sleeps, so those of us living in Blogtown and the urban center of WebNews rarely have more than a few hours away from a computer. I hope readers will forgive me if I run through the past week's highlights Billy Joel style -- as in "We Didn't Start the Fire" -- in order to take the rest of the day off with my non-virtual family.

Whitney Houston, she did die, At the Grammys no dry eye, HuffPost readers said goodbye, Question now, how'd she go...

Sunday Roundup: Who Is Peter Kent?

| Posted 02.26.2012 | Canada

It's not often you get an environment minister sitting down with a bunch of reporters and editorial staff to a no-holds-barred question-and-answer session, let alone a minister who has become as controversial as Peter Kent.

Yet that's what happened on Thursday at HuffPost, as we initiated our series of monthly lunches with Very Important People You Need to Hear From. When we informed the minister going in that he was our guinea pig, he wondered aloud if he was not in fact our sacrificial lamb? Not quite.
