'Last Resort' is easily one of the fall's most exciting, engrossing new shows, and while I can't tear my eyes away from the screen, I have to admit, I'm confused a lot of the time.
There are obvious reasons to give 'Arrow' a try. Stephen Amell, for one. Not only is he easy on the eyes, but thankfully, the man can act. It would have been easy to cast Oliver Queen with some random hair model, but Amell commands our attention for all the right reasons.
It was only after Mamie Gummer first appeared on 'The Good Wife' that I learned she was Meryl Streep's daughter -- not that it mattered, because by then she had already won me over as that snippy, seemingly harmless Nancy Crozier. And now she's the lead of her very own show, 'Emily Owens, M.D.'
It seems like ABC wants warm n' fuzzy shows once again, trying to bring back some nostalgia by adding family-friendly comedies to cap off the end of the week. One is 'Malibu Country,' starring Reba McEntire. It's too bad the new shows are being written like it's still the '90s.
