In its advertisement for the type of weapon used by the child-killer Adam Lanza, Bushmaster's slogan reads: "Consider Your Man Card Reissued." Lots of people out there feel as if they're man-card-carrying alphas. Now it's time to do battle against an organization that endangers the lives of your children.

We care about the parents of children murdered. We care when they lose their loved ones to psychopaths enabled by the NRA. But will we do something about it? Much can be done. No lobby, however wealthy and well-armed, is more powerful than the American people.

The "middle ground"' is the place to stand if you care more about guns than children. What will work -- and it will require a seismic shift in the American psyche of the sort rarely experienced in history -- is the uncompromising gun policy adopted in Australia.

The gun lobby is not only uninterested in mental health care, but I assure you: they can be counted on to resist any real efforts to improve it.
