Instead of going nuts trying to come up with new election rules, perhaps we should try the opposite and do away with ALL rules and turn this thing into a no-holds-barred, made-for-TV cage fight. If we're not going to get quality, mature leadership no matter what we do, let's just do away with the pretense of it entirely. Let's have some fun.

A recent article in The Beacon, an online magazine created by students of New York City's Yeshiva University, is causing quite a stir in the Jewish community. Entitled "Why It's Time for Jews to Get Over the Holocaust," he argues for the demotion of the tragedy in the religion's collective narrative. And I'm glad he wrote it.

Quebecois Smokers Don't Have Much Else to Live For

At first, I was rather annoyed at the two million Quebecers who are seeking reparations from Big Tobacco in a class-action lawsuit to the tune of $27 billion. These people, I told myself, are reaching for a scapegoat to mask their own poor decisions, and worse, expect to cash in on those mistakes.

One Kind of Racism is Not Like the Other

Faint racist thought in and of itself isn't really a problem and can't really be classified as such if more than half of us are doing it. The real problem is that 52 per cent of Canadians conceded their tame racism out loud.
