Sequins and Leather and Lace, Oh My!

Posted: 12/24/2012 12:18 pm

What better time of year to pull out the sequins, leather and lace than the holiday season? Whether it's a cocktail party, dinner with friends or a gathering to trim the tree, how about donning something special to mark the festive occasion.

Clothing that incorporates sequins, leather and lace can make quite a statement and as a result some people are afraid to wear them. Others are unsure of how to incorporate these pieces into their existing wardrobe and wonder whether or not they can pull it off.

If you're one of the unsure, treat them like any other statement piece and build your outfit around them. Make sure that they are your focus and that every other piece of clothing relates in one way or another -- whether it's something that compliments or contrasts.

Below I've provided three looks for each of the materials to help you visualize different ways you might incorporate sequins, leather and lace into your holiday looks. However you decided wear them, just remember to do it with purpose and own it. But most importantly, have fun with it. 'Tis the season!

I'm not sure how I feel about the whole shorts in the winter thing, though I do wear shorter skirts with leggings from time to time... It's not a far jump from skirt to short, but I don't know if I can make it.

Most men that I know couldn't care less about all this fashion nonsense.I'm guessing that it's for woman to compete against each other.I personally prefer a woman to be comfortable and practicle in her dress so that I don't have to feel like she has to be taken care of.I,ve been out with women in the winter,in Canada, who refuse to layer their clothes because it made them look "fatter".They were happy to suffer the bitter cold in their impracticle shoes and lacy thin garments in order to remain maximumly attractive.Sadly, instead of finding them irrisitable,I found them foolish.Poor little hot house flowers had fallen victim to the fashion obsessed subculture being promoted here.

Yup, fashion is more important to women. When I was a teenager a lot of kids refused to wear winter coats or boots because they were "lame". The "lame kids" never shivered or had chattering teeth or had to suffer all day with wet socks in their wet runners. lol.
I found some awesome knee high, waterproof leather wedges and some warm long and short down filled coats for winter. I have those high-tech, thin long undies and tops to layer with so I don't look like a badly stuffed sausage. I like to look good, I'd be uncomfortable if I didn't, but I like being warm even more!

Other then that ,I found woman to be tougher then they looked, and often tougher then men when it came to the cold.
