Diane Bellemare

Independant senator of Quebec

Diane Bellemare has a PhD in Economics from McGill University and a Master of Economics from the University of Western Ontario. She has worked as a full professor at the University of Quebec at Montreal’s school of management sciences (ÉSG), a consultant with government organizations and unions, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Société québécoise de développement de la main-d’œuvre (SQDM), Vice-President of the Quebec Employers Council and Special Economic Advisor to Quebec’s Official Opposition Leader in the National Assembly. She was appointed to the Senate in September 2012 and has been a non-affiliated senator since 2016. She serves as the Legislative Deputy with the Office of the Government Representative in the Senate.
