Dr. Bob Haig

Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario Chiropractic Association

Dr. Bob Haig’s role as Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario Chiropractic Association allows him to pursue his two greatest professional passions – chiropractic and association leadership.

As CEO of the association representing over 3,000 chiropractic doctors in Ontario, Bob has focussed on modernizing the organization. This involved a revamping of the OCA governance structure as well as operational procedures. As an advocacy organization, the OCA has experienced several stakeholder and government relations successes during Bob’s tenure. Most recently, the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-term Care welcomed chiropractors into primary health care settings with a publicly funded low back pain pilot project and the addition of chiropractors to the lists of practitioners eligible to accept staff positions within Family Health Teams and Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinics.

Bob has contributed to a variety of boards and councils during his career. He is currently serving as the Chair of the Coalition of Regulated Health Professional Associations and Chair of the Fee-Setting Advisory Committee at Ontario’s Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB).

The Chiropractic Approach To Back Pain

30 years of clinical practice as a chiropractor has taught me that one size does not fit all when it comes to back pain. There is no silver bullet. While some treatments may help some people, they don't work well for others, so it's very important to offer a targeted combination of approaches based on a thorough assessment and diagnosis.
