Jérôme Blanchet-Gravel has a Bachelor’s degree in Political Sciences and a Master’s degree in Religious Studies. As a specialist of religions in modern societies, he has published several books in this area and has given conferences in Canada and in France.​

In September 2015, he was invited by the National Assembly of Québec to take part in the parliamentary commission concerning Bill n°59, an Act to prevent and combat hate speech and speech inciting violence. Since many years, he has a long-standing interest in issues of radicalization and political extremism.

He is now consultant for the firm Aventis Conseil in Quebec.

Acknowledging this fact is one of the first things you could have done to protect the Muslim community in Quebec City. To fight and prevent hate speech that comes from the far right, you also need to fight and prevent its counterpart. Otherwise, all your efforts would be useless.

The First Steps Toward A Reform Of Islam

Unfortunately, the absence of a clearly identified clergy in the Muslim world (particularly in the Sunni world) does not favour a reform of Islam. To reform this religion, the various representatives of Islam all around the world should cooperate, coordinate their action to find common ground on major issues.
