Karis Macdougall

Canadian actress and producer

Karis has been actively involved in the entertainment industry since the age of 5. She grew up touring with The Main Space School of Circus Arts as an acrobat, aerialist, tumbler, and flying trapeze artist, performing for events, corporate functions, in television spots and in commercials. Along with circus arts, she studied classical violin through the Royal Conservatory of Music. With a passion for the arts, she continued along this path through university.

Karis graduated from Ryerson University’s Radio and Television Arts program where she focused on broadcast journalism. She went on to study at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in a year-long acting program. The practical aspects of television production have enabled Karis to develop a deep appreciation for the various facets of media. Karis was awarded the Broadcast Educators Association of Canada award for her work on the television pilot, “Savvy Sophistication”.

During her third year of university, Karis spent a semester abroad studying journalism in Hong Kong. There she experienced her first taste of working in print with the lifestyle glossy magazine COVER Magazine. She had several pieces published by the time she was 21. After graduating, she went on a six-month assignment in Australia where she worked on the international news desk for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) in Sydney.

Karis has worked with numerous television stations including: CBC, CTV, YTV, Toronto 1, Global and in publicity for The Toronto International Film Festival. She has been a volunteer tsunami relief worker in Thailand, a flying trapeze specialist in Pennsylvania, a bronze medal winner in the Australian Nationals Ultimate Frisbee Tournament, and a tour leader for 36 teenagers who traveled across North American via Greyhound bus. She has also had the privilege of being a TV field director for the prime-time dating reality show “Matchmaker”.

Currently Karis continues to refine her craft as an actor in television and film, and has appeared in numerous commercials, television shows and in short film. She works as a host & producer for Getty Images/Wire Images and is a lifestyle reporter for "Hamptons Main St", a cable television show airing in SouthHampton on Cable Vision channel 20. She has interviewed celebrities such as Kevin Spacey, Kim Cattrall, Chelsea Clinton, Frida Pinto, Mindy Kaling, Tony Bennett, Penn Badgley, Helena Bonham Carter, Valentino, Rudy Giuliani, Michael Pitt, Maria Sharapova, Elle MacPherson and Arianna Huffington.
