Raj Grewal J.D MBA, (born on September 11, 1985) is the Member of Parliament for Brampton East. Raj has called Brampton East his home for the last 25 years. Raj brings a solid business and legal background to the House of Commons. He obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University, as well as an MBA from the Schulich School of Business. Raj was called to the Ontario bar in June 2014 after completing his J.D at Osgoode Hall Law School and is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Upper Canada. Raj recently practiced law at a prominent Bay street firm, where he specialized in public and private mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and securities. Before entering the legal profession, Raj was a financial analyst for a fortune 500 company. Raj is committed to bringing a progressive voice to Ottawa, focusing on issues such as immigration and democratic reform, along with being a strong advocate for issues effecting our youth.

Diversity Requires Effort For All Canadians

Discrimination still exists and the racist posters that surfaced across the University of Alberta campus this week were a reminder of that fact. The posters featured a picture of a Sikh man and disparaging captions targeting Sikh values. As a turban-wearing Sikh, the hatred and ignorance that motivates such material is very close to home for me and the broader Sikh community.
