Sandra Tisiot

Founder of Ottawa's Women In Business Conference, Author, Entrepreneur, Speaker

Sandra was born in Hamilton, Ontario. After high school her passion for dancing brought her to California where she fulfilled her childhood dreams by performing with various professional dance troupes. There she also received her BA in Dance and Business from California State University of Long Beach. An unfortunate injury prevented her from continuing to dance professionally, but it didn’t dampen her spirits or her love for dancing and performing. Continuing her education back East in Washington DC, she ultimately received her MA from the American University. She is currently enrolled in a PhD program.

Sandra’s talents have taken her to many cities throughout North America and around the world where she has achieved much acclaim for her skills and insight in writing and teaching in the Arts world and the business world.

Relocating to Ottawa Canada in the early 90s to be closer to family was yet another fortuitous step for Sandra. She has made an indelible mark in the financial sector in both the sales and management side of the mortgage industry by achieving top sales recognition with all four companies she worked with.

Sandra spends her spare time continuing her passion for dance by teaching BARRE dance classes. She enjoys reading, writing, and spending quality time with her family and her friends. By constantly thinking of new ways to help people, she created, MyLifeLocker, an organizational workbook where families can find peace-of-mind knowing all their life information is on one-spot. She has leveraged her business experience and contacts to forge several strategic partnerships to help increase sales.

Sandra currently enjoys a relatively quiet life, still in the financial industry, but mostly with her pride-and-joy, her son Dante.

Sandra is also the co-founder of Suits-Me.ca, a charity that collects clothing for the Women’s Mental Health Program at The Royal in Ottawa. She raises funds for this cause through her annual Women In Business Conference where she brings in acclaimed speakers to inspire, motivate and nourish women in all aspects of their lives.

A Former Dancer's Lesson in Finding Balance

My first career was as a dancer. Then, suddenly, that dream was over. About 10 years ago, the first incarnation of a more specific dream-within-a-dream began creeping tentatively from my mind. Spurred by that voice, my dream today takes the form of Ottawa's seventh annual Women in Business conference.
