Veahavta

Canadian Jewish Humanitarian and Relief Committee

Ve’ahavta: the Canadian Jewish Humanitarian and Relief Committee was founded in 1996 in response to the local and international indifference to the Rwandan genocide. Fueled by a commitment to assist homeless and marginalized men, women, and youth to break the cycle of poverty, the organization focuses on three main areas of emphasis: essential supplies, education, and empowerment. From these focus areas, a number of unique programs and services have been developed that foster inclusivity and integration, increasing each individual’s capacity and strengthening their determination to improve their lives. At Ve’ahavta, we live and breathe the Jewish imperative to help others through tikun olam – repairing the world.
