Candice Batista has been reporting on environmental issues for the past 10 years. She began her career as a weather specialist at Canada’s Weather Network. After engrossing herself in climatology, Candice quit her job to launch (2006) the first, local green television series in Canada. As the host, creator and producer of A Greener Toronto, Candice was responsible for all the content, fundraising and day to day challenges of creating a brand new series. In 2011, the City of Toronto recognized her work with a nomination as a finalist in the Green Toronto Awards in the category of Environmental Awareness.

After 5 seasons of A Greener Toronto, Candice moved on to hosted and produced Pet Central on The Pet Network.

In 2010, she created, hosted and produced two more eco themed television shows, Global Footprints and @issueEarth.

In 2011, Candice had the chance to appear as a guest expert on CTV’s The Marilyn Denis Show, this led to a full time producer position and the role of resident eco expert on the show.

Candice is also one of a select group of Canadians hand-pick to be personally trained by Al Gore to present The Inconvenient Truth slide show presentation.

She’s a regular contributor in all things green on Huffington Post Canada’s website.

She’s hosted over 100 green events, including the Green Living Show and offers a popular lunch n’ learn presentation on how to go green room by room, she has lectured to over 1,000 people.

Her business “Eco”nomical Living Consulting helps people create healthy, green homes.

Born and raised in South Africa, Candice has been actively involved in environmental, social-justice, human-rights and animal-rights issues since she was a child. Currently, she volunteers for a number of different groups.

After completing a history degree at York University, Candice graduated at the top of her class with a post-graduate degree in broadcast journalism from Seneca College.
