Claire Beckstead is a Technical and Policy Advisor with the Pembina Institute's Sustainable Communities Group. She is engaged in community energy planning with municipalities and First Nations communities in British Columbia, and has worked with many small and large communities across the province.

Claire has experience in community energy planning (including greenhouse gas inventory analysis), facilitation and stakeholder engagement, and research and policy design. Claire is currently involved in the Pembina Institute's Green Building Leaders project, and is working with more than 12 local governments to design municipal and provincial policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from buildings in B.C.

Prior to joining the Pembina Institute, Claire worked with Ontario school boards researching the non-technical barriers to installing solar photovoltaic projects on primary and secondary schools.

Claire holds a Master's degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo.
