Why not nerge Mike Puffy, Pat Brazeau and Pamela Wallin and call squeeze these 3 irrelevent sacks of Reform Party patronage into a mege-senator. The 3 of them combined haven't got 20 brain cells between them.

Sounds good to me and thanks for your insightful analysis of the senators. However I would argue that your being a little too kind. F&F

If the three provinces ever did merge to form one province, I'd be in favour of giving it the official name of Province of the Maritimes. People would undoubtedly more commonly refer to it as the Maritimes.

We do need some kind of new government platform for all of Atlantic Canada. We have way to many MLA's for our population. However if Mike Duffy has anything to do with it than you can be sure it will be bad.

in ontario they merge boroughs into mega cities -----down east they merge entire provinces

but the merged poulation would be 1,850,000 people still less than the city of toronto proper

I guess that's part of the problem and we can't keep people because obviously being of the have not persuasion there is not a lot of employment opportunities. It's one of those cyclical conundrums, few people causes few jobs causes few people and the wheels on the bus go round and round.

The economic prospects would improve when it becomes more profitable for builders to build upward, which is more (local) labour-intensive, rather than outward, which is more (imported) material- and energy-intensive, through elimination of height and minimum setback restrictions, maximum automobile parking of 0, integration of residential and commercial use of land, decreasing development charges to 0 for infill and increased for low density, and basing property taxes on the value of land alone rather than land and building. The Green Party generally advocates for land value taxation. Danny Handelman

When Newfoundland and Labrador merged, do you think they came up with a new name? No, that's why that province is called Newfoundland and Labrador. That's why the new province will be called.. "Nova Scotia New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island." Watch and see.
04:09 PM on 11/30/2012
Actually, Newfoundland and Labrador never merged, what happened was that the Dominion of Canada and the Dominion of Newfoundland had a dispute over who ruled Labrador and where the border was. This is a reason why many Quebec maps show Labrador as part of Quebec as they did not like the Privy Council's ruling. Some thought Newfoundland should only get the coast but the Privy Council ruled that all the rivers flowing down to the ocean also must be in Newfoundland, which is how the borders are as they are. The Dominion of Newfoundland continued to be so named, and after joining Canada it remained Newfoundland. The province was renamed Newfoundland and Labrador about ten years ago.

You could call it another lousy tory idea...more control over diverse populations-why not throw in Newfoundland as well, then you could call it the Union of Conservative Ridiculous Republics...
