why buy weapons that create death and destruction, invest in your own people first.Canada has no enemy
04:12 AM on 12/07/2012
Harper has been working hard to change that 'no enemy' status we used to have.

He has seen how effective a shake-down it is to create scary foreign enemies, and then bleed us dry for 'protection' from that manufactured threat.

The greatest security we ever enjoyed was when our military was known for peacekeeping, and Canada simply didn't generate the kind of ill will that Harper now does.

Gee. Weren't these the kind of numbers being bandied about by the experts the Tories savaged about three years ago? I guess they really were experts after all and Peter McKay is ... well ... Peter McKay and "Ayn Rand" Ambrose is apparently just as competent in the Public Works portfolio as she was in the Labour and Environment portfolios.

And here I thought he was just a cheap drunk.

Ms. Ambrose, normally sure-footed, now stumbled badly.

“Mr. Speaker,” she responded, “that open and transparent process started right after the Auditor General’s report.”

The slip heard around Ottawa!!!

Crooked businessmen.

Harper is doing the right thing by scrapping it.

By finally scrapping it after running a misleading election campaign based largely upon defending his government's decision to continue with the purchase.

We need to buy cheaper planes, and more drones. More bang for buck

Imma Okay
01:22 AM on 12/07/2012
Or not buy anything of the sort given that no one's going to attack Canada.
02:51 AM on 12/07/2012

Drones are useful for search but not so good on the rescue.
02:53 AM on 12/07/2012
And F35's would be good for rescue? We need to spend our defense budget on search, rescue and defense. We do not need stealth first strike fighters. Who do we need to first strike?

Vindication is sweet Harper We told you so!

Now buy Canada the plane we need Rafale ...
12:57 AM on 12/07/2012
How about investing that money in tools that go to preserve life like healthcare as opposed to ones that takes lives?
This is just a small taste of what Harper is getting us into. I guarantee that once a new government is formed and the numbers are added up, we will be in a far bigger hole than what he and Flaherty are letting on.

isn't that how it happened in ontario?
10:29 AM on 12/07/2012
Harris had to be turfed before we "discovered" the surplus was a $5 billion deficit.

Surprisingly, Flaherty has never been made to explain the math on that one.

I can't wait to see how the CONs will try and pin this on the NDP and the Liberals. Maybe even on the Quebec separatists?

In a word: no.

I've been a political watcher through several government. This is the worst I've seen on every level. I've never seen such an unqualified bunch.
