Thanks, Tony! Next Diwali, you know, the Hindu Festival of Lights, I would like to decorate a government office public space modestly and respectfully.
Please be advised that I will be setting up small 3D images of my favourite personal deity(ies) and some larger wall posters.
They are NOT gods.
Others may put up theirs.
They will be displayed over ten (10) days, the duration of the joyous occasion for all Hindu Canadians, celebrating the return from self-imposed 14 year exile of the just and principled King, Rama.
Please advise Christian, Muslim, and Jewish workers to understand.
Thank you, Hon. Minister!

Sorry, between bending over for Isreal and China, I'm feeling a little grinchy.

Canada Action Plan in action.

Finally a use for Muskoka Tony. Stand him in corner and decorate him. He's badly in need of a couple of lights and some balls.

Oh, I see, they can lay off 10,000, make the remainders double down on the workload but make it all go away because, if you can find the time and money, have your own little Xmas decorations. Nothing Grinchy about Conservatives when it comes to union employees, right? Right?

Canada has a major financial deficit. We are borrowing money from all over the world to pay for government employees because the taxpayers of Canada are broke and can't afford them! How much more are we expected to borrow in order to pay for government employees?

OK Tommy, give it to us.

Government employees = bad

Why?

Like in your own finances, WHAT you spend your money on is a choice, ..gee HOW much are those action ads, limos, orange juice, or gazebos AGAIN? ( to name but a slim few ) I just LOVE governments who spend badly, then cry .. OH we can not afford it, ..and biased though I may be, this is a right tactic to get RID of those social programs & services THAT they feel Canadians shouldn't have... Smoke & mirrors. And no, I do not think the government should spend like drunken sailors ( and incorrect tag given to lefties ) I just can NOT stand the hypocrisy, that the right incorrectly believe that THEY are better with the government purse. Check history, not just in Canada but Britain & the States as well... just because you say it over & over does not make it true. The "right' are poor stewards of taxes more than not.

Lest a single square inch of public space not be cluttered with obnoxious decorations. Heck, someone might forget it's Christmas time!

Harper's Govt. doesn't give a tinkers damn as long as the cost of the festive decorations are covered out of the employee's wallet...why would they..(as long as they are not permanent )

They won't lay anyone off until the new year...

On December 21st and June 21st can the Wiccans and Druids now post their symbols in the front office/public reception area too?

I enjoy seeing the odd bit of these Christmas symbols displayed at this time of year, but I would enjoy some of all the other ones displayed too especially around their special/festive/holy times to remind me to have some respect and educate myself. And not just in government offices.

So it''l be OK to wear across for a few weeks a year if you're a federal public servant in Quebec?

Not Nexen nor the F-35's will be a source of much needed government decree but tinsel or a menorah in an office. #makesense

Once they get their Christmas and Hanukkah decorations in place, Santa Tony will appear with a sack full of pink slips and hand them out to those who don't have them.

We can have Good Friday as a national state holiday, but need to debate about whether quasi-religious decorations for another federal holiday of Christmas is appropriate?

Remember kids, America is the one with separation of church and state, we don't have that. We are however, a tolerant and multicultural country, so people of other cultures should also be free to decorate their cubicles/offices with whatever decorations from other cultural festivals that they would like.
