Friday the 13th comes on a Wednesday this month

Nenshi rightly calls out the empty promises the Cons use to make it seem they care... well done!
07:20 PM on 12/18/2012
Toronto has Ford and Calgary has Nenshi. One stands up to Harper and the other bows down to Harper. Guess which one stands up and which one bows down. Hint - the one who bows down ihas the same name as a car - a medium price car developed by a man who knew paying good wages was good for business.

I somehow doubt Mr. Ford can bow down without some help. Or at least get up without help.

It is up to Calgarians. They sent Harper to Ottawa. They sent Nenshi to Mayor's office. Kind of bipolar, ya think?

Wait till Harper starts the attack ads on Nenshi. Kenney is thinking: How dare an immigrant we so generously let into God's country, dare be critical? The "ingrate" from Africa! We'll teach him to confront us!

go nenshi!!
06:32 PM on 12/18/2012
Nenshi is eroding the Cons redneck base in Cowtown - they don't like that. No such thing as free speech in Herr Harper's Canada!

Calgary's been a pretty cool city for a long time. Great arts community there. Maybe the rest of us will hear more about it one day.

Proud I voted for you, Naheed!

Nenshi must be on the path of accountability, responsibility and reason if the Conservatives want him to go away. Why do I get the feeling that Harper has been single for a decade? Anyone seen his Christmas card? Again?

"Free societies are societies in which the right of dissent is protected."
- Natan Sharansky

By this definition, we are no longer a free society. Harper has systematically crushed all dissent.

You call telling someone to quiet down stifling decent? WOW, just WOW

What was Kenny's intent if not to silence Nenshi?

Aristotle said it better: "Freedom is the right to dissent."

When Ministers stifle dissent, we are heading down a dark road.
11:49 PM on 12/18/2012
A VERY dark road with Harper. an “assault on the building block of democratic society,”

I have always maintained that authoritarian people do not brook dialogue or dissent. Do we have a bunch of authoritarian khak like Pakistani generals unable to disagree without becoming disagreeable?
Many Canadians can see through Jason Kenney's immigration tactics.

Stand up to the bully and his party Mr. Mayor. They can't handle an intelligent conversation filled with facts and figures especially from a former business professor who's area of expertise was non-profit management...kind of what governments should be all about.

I'm in Regina, Sask. I wish we had a mayor like Nenshi that stood up to the feds and our bloated provincial Premier as well.

Thats it! Hold their feet to the fire Nenshi!
05:16 PM on 12/18/2012
Keep trying to muzzle the Mayor of Calgary, Minister Kenney! Becase every very time you open your mouth with a statement like this, more PC votes slip away to the Greens and Liberals in Calgary Centre.
