Alberta has the best weather????? What? Winter starts in october and ends maybe in april if you're lucky.
BC has the coast, beaches and nice lakes for fishing and recreation.Alberta has a bunch of pothole lakes full of jackfish .

British Columbia hands down has greater potential, un tapped for certain. However BC only prospers under a non-socialist government. BC has the greater resources, has a reasonably well educated population, and could do well if managed well.

Yeah....we sure have prospered under the current government. Wonder how they will fare next May, given their stellar record.

These days both provinces have a high suckage factor....I count the days until I can be done with BC and have no plans on stopping in Oilberta either.

My vote is with respect to the totally shallow and probably baseless comparison of guys I've dated. BC wins.

Came from Alberta and left in 1965. While I have been back on a regular basis with my work and a couple of forms of recreation, I could never live there again. Snow, cold, mud, dust, bugs and wind just ruin any ambience for me. They missed two very positive facts in favour of Alberta in the comparissons....... highways #1 and #16 WESTBOUND ....... oh wait.........

Which province is the best to live? Both...because at the end of the day you're still in Canada (comment does not apply to Toronto).

Doesn't apply to Toronto? Oh you mean the cultural centre of the country that is routinely listed as one of the best places in the entire world to live in? That Toronto?
10:36 PM on 12/22/2012
No, that's Vancouver. Toronto is the also ran compared to there.

Yes, that one.  I'm a born Torontonian...just like to make the jabs, all in good fun :)

wages are triple in Alberta and job opportunity in Alberta is light years ahead of BC....

Alberta is a high wage province.....BC is a low wages province with no economy/industry

BC is a dying/withering...economic wasteland

Wages are triple. That's quite a bold statement, and factually untrue. Maybe for certain types of unskilled labour, but on the whole, no. Alberta is physically dying and withering from pollution.
02:25 AM on 01/11/2014
According to the most recent employment numbers.

BC gained 13 000 jobs in december while alberta lost 12 000
07:57 PM on 12/22/2012
It's not all about wages, B.C. will never wither or die.

Lived in both. I miss the natural beauty that BC offers, I don't miss the terrible weather and the god awful traffic. A tie, really?
Since moving to Alberta I have had the opportunity to see how the other half lives. We moved for being the working poor in BC to being middle class here in Alberta without much of a salary change. Think it's cold here? In -20 weather I can still go outdoors in a hoodie and vest and do pretty much any activity all year long. Who enjoys being outside when you are soaked and chilled to the bone as what happens in BC where freezing is pretty much anything under 13 degrees!
Alberta has afforded me & my family a lifestyle one cannot attain in BC without spending 80 hours a week working. There are real families here, ones where grandparents are involved with their grandchildren and families regularly partake in being together. House are made here for a family, not 4 or 5 families. Neighborhoods feel like communities. Most importantly, people are friendly and down to earth, nobody rallies together like people from the praries!

BC is full of snotty aroggance and selfishness. I always knew it exsited when I lived there but now that I see things from a distance, it is worse than I imagined and it is absolutely disgusting.
I'll take being a proud Albertan, rather than pretending to be a somebody in BC.

you do realize that there is more to BC than the lower mainland right?
02:27 AM on 01/11/2014
Have you ever been to the okanagan? Puts both the coast and alberta to shame climate wise. Mild temperatures that rarely drop much below -5C in winter but yet lack of rain and a mild semi desert climate.

Terrible weather? We get two or three days of winter a year a month or two of gentle sprinkles when a day without a rainbow in an anomaly and warm tropical breezes the rest of the time.

You must have been on the east side of town.

i am born, raised albertan..british columbia is hands down one of the most desirable places to live in the world,,as long as you can afford it.not that its over the top expensive its just that the economy isnt what it used to be..in the workplace here however i have met a bunch of people that think that coming from the province of b.c removes most of the stench from there fesces.

"Sure, you don't have to shovel rain in B.C., but Albertans don't have to carry an umbrella everywhere they go.
Winner: Alberta"

A real BC'er does not use an umbrella

I've seen BC'ers using umbrellas in the snow - something you never see in the East or even in AB!

HP calls this a "friendly" competition, but, as most here already know, it's just another thinly disguised ruse to get posters from Alberta and BC to claim superiority over one another.

It's a formula that has worked well for the parent company in the US to promote hate and dissension between people in different states in order to generate more clicks, page-views, and, with that, big advertising profits for HPAOL.

Sure, it's fun to occasionally throw darts at one another. However, I hope we don't see the level of vitriol here that HPUSA has managed to generate on the American boards.

I think the divisions in the US were present prior to the HuffP existence. There was this one event called the civil war in the US which I am pretty sure existed prior to the Internet.
