I was an organizer of demonstrations back in the 80's.We had extensive meetings before any demonstrations to help get our messages clear. We would spend a great deal of time researching and getting clear about the issues, from both sides. We were truely armed with righteous indignation. This particular demonstration was not organized very well...and sadly it shows.

the very sad part is that ezra knows this video plays very well to his audience

and he knows it too

No matter how nasty a person's opinions may be, it bothers me to see somebody getting bullied by a mob.

When he goes out and deliberately provokes them, and tries to control the interview, my sympathy for him can be found in the dictionary...between s#$t and syphilis.
08:49 AM on 01/21/2013
Yep, when you measure his intelligence against the collective intelligence of the crowd, it isn't really a fair fight.

Many in the surly crowd probably had hurt feelings.
07:52 AM on 01/21/2013
hardly bullied
ezra seems very comfortable
and i think he relishes this sort of conflict as it plays very well to his audience

Yes he has the facts on his side and that makes him feel very comfortable confronting that crowd.

Wow. This is the most lost and confused bunch of people I've ever seen. Composed of a handful Indians and anarchist who'll attend any protest for the sake of protesting.

I can safely say, support has now moved elsewhere.

You'd need to know them to be able to judge the actions on that video? You need a detailed psychological profile too?

The fact that Huff is posting a Sun News video makes your statement a failure.

Try and keep up little girl.

Actuall;y, the title should be "Ezra Levant confronts Protesters" as it was he that waded into the crowd to quiz some of the people on what they want....

They didn't seenm to know.

They clearly seemed to know who they were but they did not have a homogenous message. There's a big difference, regardless of your smarmy criticism.

Well, let's see.....Idle No more sprang into being in support of an overpaid fraud artist on a faux "hunger strike", and it seems the main aim of the movement is to undermine the legitimate leader of the AFN, Shawn Atleo.

Like occupy, the "movement" is a very bad joke, so far.

Try watching the whole thing on Youtube. Early on, Ezzie the Whiner is asking questions, the guy answers, and asks Ezra a counter question...he stonewalls...then the crowd really starts shouting. Levant has zero credibility.
08:17 AM on 01/21/2013
The Lib/Left Collective is very afraid of Levant because he doesn't respect political-correctness, instead, he confronts it at every opportunity.

I strongly oppose the Idle No More movement and I have zero respect for any of the protesters in this video, and quite frankly every single protester across the country that doesn't see anything wrong with their blockades. However, I would think the same things if they were Caucasian, African American or Indian. (Indian in this term is referring to India, so settle down keyboard warriors) It isn't racist. I know a lot of Caucasian people who abuse the government system. I dislike them just as much as the Natives around here who abuse it. If any other group was doing this protest with these actions, I would be typing this same comment .

Of course you don't respect them. You've probably never had to insist on your rights for anything. It's too bad if people standing up for themselves hurts your feelings, but your feelings are pretty insignificant compared to the rights they're pressing for. As for the blockades, they seem to be necessary to get people like yourself to pay attention for a change. Enjoy the privilege the status quo affords you while you can, it's probably not going to last long.
01:02 PM on 01/21/2013
How about the same rights apply to all canadians instead of separate sets of rights?
03:29 AM on 01/21/2013
I make a comment disagreeing with the Natives, I am a racist.
I make a comment defending Ezra, I am a right wing?

First off I play goal, other than that I am just a citizen who is sick and tired of this movement and the way they conduct themselves. It is embarrassing to see grown men and women acting like this. They must just sit at home refreshing the news waiting for something to pop up they can jump on. Searching Facebook for someone who they feel stepped out of line so they can assault him as well.

would it hurt to actually sit and talk to a FN person and find out for yourself what this is about??.....but yes.....I imagine it would .....look up and ACTUALLY read and comprehend(if you can) what bill c-45 is

It does appear that the occupy protesters are also the idle no more people for hire. How much do you get paid to be a protestor?

At last First Nations people are addressing the systemic racism in this country's media. Change comes from within and that is what Idle 'Know' More is about.

Ezra & Co are wanna-be American right-wing shock jocks that would never get away with saying and writing the disgusting things they publish here in the USA. The really scary thing is how many Canadians actually believe or go along with their ignorant, racist rhetoric.

It's time to clear the air - civil rights extended to the Original Peoples of Canada is well overdue.

I have to admit this video doesn't depict well what the core of the movement stands for. That's always the risk of mass protests movements like this. You end up with groups of people presenting disjointed messaging. They needed a spokesperson out there, not several different people speaking at once and shouting over eachother. This didn't do them any favors, but I don't believe it harmed them either. Let's be honest and look at the facts: based on the viewership of Sun News Network, nobody takes them seriously.
03:08 AM on 01/21/2013
TV viewership is not limited for example exposure to social media has been know to get the message out there, you of all people should know
09:34 AM on 01/21/2013
Their like any other news media, paper, web, radio or TV. People have to have their filters on to determind the truth, as well as paying attention to other sources.
The Sun News is just as relavent as the HP, if not more so because they really are the only "right wing" voice out there.
Some of what they say is bang on!
Some of what they cover is not mentioned in other news sources.
And our State broadcaster, who lost their mandate years ago, is nothing but a voice for the far left.

CBC is hardly a voice for the left and with respect, there is no evidence to prove they are. I will tell you what CBC, and mainly CBC TV and Power and Politics is: a whipping post for the government who plays nice with them in order to gain access.
I would be in favor of Sun News if it weren't just an opinion channel but a full spectrum provider, the same as CBC or CTV. Andrew Coyne had a great column on this recently.
Canada has, as a rule, had less of a culture of opinion news and has relied more on delivery of specific stories with a specific focus.
Best.

The first few comments I have read are racist. I am glad someone has protested Levant. His past work included working for the tobacco industry selling lies. Then the book Ethical oil. When it comes down to it no oil is ethical. We need off of it and quick. We have no time to waste. Selling oil or tobacco has it's problems. Delaying the creation of a non carbon society in motion is a crime against humanity.
03:22 AM on 01/21/2013
LOL, the climate theres a non issue. 16 years of record co2 emissions with no warming. Obviously co2 warming is not a big deal.

There are a few polar bears and penguins who'd like to have a word or two with you. Greenland and Tuvalu are also waiting on Line 2.

Look, even the average climate change denier admits to a warming trend, these days. The evidence of increased temperatures is irrefutable. Your peers have now moved on to claiming other reasons for the change, though they still refuse to believe that pollutants and deforestation are to blame.
