canadians wont do ANYTHING. why would anyone living in a country whose productivity is falling suddenly find their feet on something that has no definitive payday?
04:28 PM on 02/09/2013
How many of those so called denied requests are actually Harpers fault ? take for example Canada post where the union has a strong hold do you think unions want to reveal their "secrets"

The list can go on how about the CBC? where they make it just a little bit hard for anyone to find out what really is going on

The fact is yes part is gov incompetence but unions and the public sector play a huge role on what information is released

Are you trying to suggest that the union is not getting the mail delivered and that is why the access to information is so slow? wow.

Even Kevin Paige as to use legal means to get access to information that should have been readily available to him.

Instead of pretending the commission is to stupid to understand the problem, why not just belly up to the bar and explain to us why this is ok with you.

Madame Legault, nous avons de la difficulté a croire plusieurs francophone avec des agendas séparatistes.

Malheureusement avec les Vendeurs de Rêves du futur Pays des Merveilles nous doutons...Are the complaints mainly from separatists or at least a big propotion of them?

I presume that many separatists spend their days on the Internet complaning about everything that is federalist. They are relentless. I presume most of them may be on Social Benefits Welfare (140,000 in Quebec). Trying not to be racist... but, with the PQ gov't in charge and so many lies coming out of the leaders' mouths...one becomes suspicious with statistics.

the harper regime is cracking down on dissent, firing oversight commissioners and scientists, and denying information requests, and you blame Quebec seperatists? Come on. That's ridiculous.

I must agree I've gone overboard. I have been connecting with separatists for a year, doing my best to educate them as they have no idea about the serious financial situation Quebec is in. It's been taxing a bit. They complain about Canada all the time. You're right ...

I am livid - speechless at the macabre indifference of the Harper government to the concept that deciet, lies, muzzling of debate in the H odf C and the press is okay so that the laws which impeded oil companies and their friends must be eliminated in the most openly outrageous fashion as could be conceived while Canadians get short shrift. The Harper government was the Reform Party, a religious party supposedly a Christian party yet it seems determined to show no mercy, to suppress facts and skip along to the next outrage. The Harper government always talks the talk but it never walks the walk. why any "Christian" align him or her self with this pack of thieves and liars is beyond me.

My kind old grandmother will vote for him because "he's a good christian" which he is not, but the image is carefully cultivated to hide the fact that he is a coniving corporate sellout. Maybe we should start to frame his corruption in terms of immorality, and talk specifically about how 'unchristian' he really is.

Harper's Reform government is by far the most secretive and corrupt in Canadian history, surpassing even the Mulroney government. Canadians are paying attention.

Many Canadians are angry, furious and frustrated but the anger is mitigated by voter apathy. What the hell does it take to get the Canadian electorate off their duffs and up in arms? And it matters not which party is in power, the problem is within the sytem. Once elected, politicians of ALL stripes settle into a mind set founded upon the perception that those in power know best and the party, not the voter, sets the agenda. Arrogance and sense of entitlement add to the disconnect and we end up always getting more of the same. No wonder people throw up their hands!

Regarding the HP story: Feds 'Not Transparent,' Says Information Commissioner:

You better send that story to the newspapers and media outlets of Alberta and certain pockets of Ontario. As there are at least 60% of Canadians that have great concerns - not so much about the Harper government - but about those that repeatedly vote in the Conservative Party. Despite such news headlines, and even though that party acts with both contempt and disgrace toward our Canadian public and the democratic process, the 40% seem who support the Cons Party almost seem blind to these facts.

i totally agree. There is a widening left-right gap in our country that is exacerbated by extremely poor media coverage in many places. I come from a county where people ignore corruption because "if that really happened, wouldn't it be in the paper?" These are the people who believe Harper "seems to be doing a pretty good job", and continue to vote conservative, as their grandparents voted.

I am not so sure there is a widening gap in Canada, but the Reformer's are sure working hard to create one. The majority of Canadians are centrist, but with the right wing and extreme right wing Reformer's trying to portray themselves as centrist (and that's a big joke) you get the appearance of division. The only real division is that between the core Reformer supporters (who are all on the right or far right along with them) and the majority of Canadians.

This is the politics of division and is intended to create the illusion of something that the Reformer's believe benefits them come vote time. Just like how they always lie and keep repeating the lies with the hope that eventually people will either start to believe it to be the truth or they forget about it and move on.

The only thing as a result of Canada's Information Commissioner, Suzanne Legault's report is that The Conservatives are Ccorrupted and frauds!

No buts, no ifs....plain corrupted, antidemocratic, unaccountable and not transparent.

Canadians will have to start calling Conservatives what they are...corrupted and dirty!
05:49 PM on 02/10/2013
We already do that by calling them Cons.

I usually try to lighten my own mood by referring to this ''organization'' as Harpertron and his faithful DeceptiCons.

lol true.

I like to call them for what they are, corrupted and anti democratic.

Still sad to see the Liberals and NDP afraid to call Cons the same.

«the current federal government is "not the most transparent"»
Information Commissioner, Suzanne Legault has a way of understatement.

"Litotes is a form of understatement, always deliberate and with the intention of emphasis"
Exemple: «the current federal government is "not the most transparent"»==
"the current federal government obscures all informations"
06:17 PM on 02/10/2013
I noted a hint of that, but never knew what it was actually called! Thank you!

When Harper promised transparency he actually confused the word with opaque. What he really meant is he would provide the most opaque government in the history of Canada. He's just fulfilling his promises.
