Seems eerily like the movie Dark Water from 2005.

A body was found in a hotel water tank in an episode of the TV show "Law & Order: Criminal Intent". A report of low water pressure lead them to the body.

Life imitating art or art imitating life?

If foul play is involved, that's just sickening... but I also think it's not since I'm not sure why the murderer wouldn't try to get rid of the body (since it's bound to be found by the building staff eventually).

From what they said about the elevator, I am inclined to think she may have been high and may have accidentally drowned in the tank... but that doesn't explain how she got there and how she even opened it...
04:07 AM on 02/20/2013
No, it doesn't. Even if she was high, both being in water and being in a stressful situation would considerably dull the effects. That, and in no way does being high incapacitate you to a point that this would happen. I watched the video, it seemed more like she was acting playfully. Many people have speculated that she could have been waiting for someone. Also, there's no way she got through a roof top and into a water tank that were both locked off. Neither would she choose to, even if she were high.
05:51 AM on 02/20/2013
Might be hard to put the lid back on the tank after you drowned yourself
12:04 PM on 02/20/2013
In the video when she goes out of the elevator you can see her putting her hands in fro not of her with pointed fingertips. The second time she goes out you can see her roll her wrists and move each finger in a spiral. These are all common effects for someone high. You see people on stimulants or E act this way because they are so high they are confused they don't know where to place their hands. She looks high, stressed and unable to work the elevator, why wouldn't she run to the front desk? But as you said this doesn't explain how she got on the roof, high people don't just jump into water tanks. This whole case is eerie.

you were never any good at the game 'clue', were you?

I wonder if the killer is still at the hotel, maybe a guest or employee?
I wouldn't stay on the same floor or room as her's, but I bet some crazy people would pay double!

I swear, this world is getting more pathetic and wicked by the day. Bless her poor family's hearts. They should have known not to let that poor girl go alone to a cesspool like L.A. ( and I am originally from there). So sad :-(

I keep wondering why that elevator didn't close and move
07:04 AM on 02/20/2013
The elevator might have required a card and she didn't seem to carry one around her.
08:57 AM on 02/20/2013
After a certain time at night... you may have needed your key card to make the elevator work. A lot of apartment buildings in Toronto are like that. You can get in the elevator fine, but it won't move until you swipe your card

I once stayed in a Marriot in Chicago. You couldn't even get to your floor without using your room card.

Poor girl. I haven't seen the surveillance footage, but this sounds like an awful case of foul play to me. Hope the police are able to re-trace her steps properly and piece together what happened to her. Sympathies to her family. What a horrible outcome.

These tanks are for potable (drinking) water! Aren't these tanks secured with locks so people cannot screw with the water supply, never mind falling in or being thrown in. This is such sad news, again, could it have been prevented if she did fall in?

First, what a tragic outcome. Second, why did it take the LAPD 2 weeks to thoroughly search the hotel? Awful.

ok I'm looking at those water tanks ...if those are the ones being shown...

I'm not really that shocked that would not be considered the a place to look for someone...how do you get a body in there

It's tough enough when your son or daughter decides to make these type of self searching trips on their own. As a parent you always think of the what if...... For these parents, the what if happened. Just an incredibly sad story however this young woman died.

Travelling alone for young women is potentially very unsafe, which is why the buddy system really is a good idea. This is a sad and tragic end to a young person's life.

If you had seen the video of her from that elevator security camera.
The poor lady was going crazy.
Very strange behavior.
Its too bad she wasn't found in time.

sad, I was hoping for some better news to come of this

Geez...can you imagine finding that body? It's been in that water for over two weeks. That worker is going to need some major counseling.
06:28 PM on 02/19/2013
It's unlikely he's going to get though. Sad.
07:05 PM on 02/19/2013
worst imagine the showering with the water that contained the body or even drinking the water.
