To start with.

I'm saddened, I'm disgusted, and I'm outraged that so many failed her. I hope every single one of those who helped push her over the edge get the long overdue justice they deserve.

This story is rather sketchy. It says that she was "raped," yet it describes photos of her in which she was dancing around with drugs and alcohol. It almost sounds more like a case of consentual, underage sex - and she only complained after the photos that were taken were actually distributed online. Were it not for posting those photos, I wonder if the word "rape" would have even been tossed around. It sounds like it was the shame of having those photos shown and the resulting attention that she got from them that actually caused her to kill herself.

Regardless, she was a minor so it should be considered child pornography. It shouldn't have been dismissed by the police at all.

Wow, what a pretty girl. What a waste. If I were a young boy, I'd be bringing her flowers and writing her poetry. Hard to make sense of this story or the situation.

It's a sad to hear that this beautiful young lady was not only violated once but twice! First by the criminals who managed to walk free and the second time by the scales of justice/system that failed to protect her. It's also a pity how this case was handled or should I say mismanaged. The alleged criminals managed to dazzle the authorities with b.s. and are now free to commit other crimes.

What is the matter with young men today? I was raised not treat women like objects, but like a person with respect and kindness. Todays young men are just not being taught the proper rules in life.

It appears that this rape case fell through the cracks and the perpetrators got away clean. I don't know how Canadians authorities handle their criminal cases but it appears that they closed the case even before it got started and/or for lack of interest. I guess that they forgot that this young lady was a fellow human being and that her case was as important as any other criminal case. It just baffles me that they couldn't put together a rape case with all the culprits and evidence that was presented to them. Their system let this young lady down, not only for the rape but also for her death.

If the police said there was not enough evidence to pursue her rapists, then they need to change what they call evidence. Particularly when it comes to involving minors. They probably won't, but I hope these punks live with the thouights of what they have done for the rest of their lives.

Most likely because they got away with it this time and who knows if they have got away with it before? You can safely wager they will do it again and laugh all the way to the next victim because they are setting up a tread not only for themselves but for others to follow also.................

This happens more than people think. Parents need to be in touch with what their kids are doing. This just breaks my heart. I hope they look into this case again. Something is wrong with this world when this becomes acceptable behaviour. My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Rehtaeh. Peace be with them.

We're living in decadent times and in a sick society, whereas, anyone can be a potential criminal!

I wish she were strong enough not to let those bastards win? She had everything to live for and so much ahead of her. Maybe, it would have been better to start a new life elsewhere living with relatives, I don't know. It's too bad that she did not have someone to talk to or to help her.

Should there not be a law against putting pictures of people, or at least minors, in sexual situations online?
