In preparation for Father's Day later this month, remember what you learned from your dad. If he's anything like ours, he cheered from the bleachers at tee-ball games and suppressed panic attacks when he taught you how to drive -- he's earned those new golf clubs.

Because of the huge influence our upbringing had on our values, we often ask our We Day speakers about what they've learned from their parents. We found this video of Martin Sheen in our archives, sharing fond memories of his father.

Sheen is one of Hollywood's most respected performers, with more than 100 films to his credit including Badlands, Apocalypse Now and The Departed. But we know him best as fictional Commander in Chief Jed Bartlet on one of our favourite shows, The West Wing.

Before he was America's favourite TV President, Sheen grew up in Dayton, Ohio, the son of immigrant parents struggling to make a go of it in America -- Mary Ann Phelan and Francisco Estevez. Now, with two sons of his own, Sheen reflects on fatherhood in the memoir, Along the Way: The Journey of a Father and Son, co-authored with his eldest, Emilio Estevez.

In this interview, Sheen told us about "Francisco, mi padre," and what he learned from his father's legacy of truth.

Craig and Marc Kielburger are founders of international charity and educational partner, Free The Children. Its youth empowerment event, We Day, is in eight cities across Canada this year, inspiring more than 100,000 attendees. For more information, visitwww.weday.com
