Geoffrey Hale is a professor of political science at the University of Lethbridge, where he has taught since 1999. He has published widely in the fields of public policy and the Canada-US relationship. His most recent book, So Near Yet So Far: The Public and Hidden Worlds of Canada-US Relations (UBC Press, 2012) is an in-depth analysis of the politics and processes of the interactions between Canada and the US. He is also the author of Uneasy Partnership: The Politics of Business and Government in Canada (University of Toronto Press, 2006) and The Politics of Taxation in Canada (University of Toronto Press, 2001) and co-editor (with Monica Gattinger) of Borders and Bridges: Canada’s Policy Relations in North America (Oxford University Press. 2010). Geoffrey Hale’s principal research interests are in the field of public policy, in particular North American integration and the management of structural policy change. He teaches in the fields of political economy, public policy, Canada-US relations, and Canadian politics. prior to his academic career, he worked in business-government relations and held different positions in the Government of Ontario. A native of Montreal, Quebec, Dr. Hale was educated at Princeton (BA, 1976) and the University of Western Ontario (MBA, 1978; PhD, 1996).
