This is the season to get into the holiday spirit; and if a Jewish girl can do it, so can you! When my, British-Church of England mother married my, Canadian-Jewish Father, the deal was that she would embrace Judaism, but wouldn't give up her Christmas tree. So, I grew up with Christmas every year. I loved it then and I love it now.

Yes, the essence is religious, but I embrace the beauty of it, the music, the food, and the wish for "PEACE ON EARTH". Who wouldn't want to spend time dreaming of that?

So, as far as I'm concerned, The Holidays are a time for over-indulgence. No "tasteful restraint" in my world at this time of year; glitter, laughter, and lots of hugs and love.

And, over-the-top Christmas trees are a must, but I'm away this Holiday Season. so no decorations in my house.

The 2013 "12 Trees of Christmas" Gala is held annually at the Gardiner Museum, Toronto in support of various charities. This year marks the 25th Anniversary of this festive event: The theme this year was the letter G, (for Gardiner). Designers' let their imagination run the gamut.

I had the best time working with my talented assistants imagining Santa in Space. Our theme was, Galaxy, (before we knew about the movie). We made a globe of the earth at the top with Santa riding a spaceship rotating around it. And- of course loads and loads of, planets, aliens and a ton of sparkle and glitter!

So for anyone who is stumped by how to decorate their tree; Think of your own theme and see what inspiration you come up with. Anything goes!

I happen to love creating handmade ornaments even when I mess up I still have fun. Crafting your own decorations is such a nice, old fashioned way to spend time with loved ones, creating memories each year when you bring out these keepsakes you made together.

I want to keep as much out of landfills as possible, so I recycle old jewellery, scarves, belts and anything else I find at home that isn't being used. Lots of glue and glitter on even the most mundane stuff starts morphing into glittering, unique works of art. It's a great way to cover your tree.

From my heart I wish you all, Happy Holidays and a Healthy New Year filled with Wonder, Peace and Love.
