Deer Attacks Dog In Cranbrook, B.C.: Video Goes Viral (VIDEO)

WATCH: Protective Mama Deer Attacks Dog In B.C.

UPDATE: As a Huffington Post Canada reader rightly noted, this video was shot and uploaded last year. It is not a new video.

___

It begins like a family friendly Disney movie with a small cat nuzzling a fawn under a car in a suburban neighbourhood in Cranbrook, B.C.

But the film turns grim as the fawn's mother strolls into frame and attacks a curious dog named Star. As hoofs fly, Star's owner screams for the beating to stop.

Posted to YouTube, the video has gone viral, with nearly three million views as of Tuesday morning.

According to the YouTube posting, Star got away after about 23 seconds. The dog was limping but has recovered. The cat, River, is fine.
