The ugly side of Toronto has surfaced in an online video that purportedly shows a young man urinating on the face of another man lying on the ground outside the city’s Eaton Centre shopping mall.
Toronto Police have launched an investigation into the incident, which was recorded and posted to the website World Star Hip Hop with the title, ‘Real Or Fake? Cold-Hearted Thug Urinates On Sleeping Homeless Man In Downtown Toronto!’
The video has racked up more than 171,000 views as of Wednesday morning.
Toronto Police spokesman Const. Tony Vella told The Toronto Star that urinating on someone would constitute an assault.
Police want to speak to the person who uploaded the video, Newstalk1010 reports. It’s unclear when the video was shot or if it was staged.
The video shows a young man approaching a man asleep on the ground. He appears to urinate on the man’s face. The victim doesn’t move. Off camera, people can be heard laughing. Another man comes into frame, pointing at the victim while laughing. “It’s on his face,” he says.
It’s not the first controversial Toronto-based video to go viral. Last December, the sexual exploits of a drunken couple on a subway platform became an Internet sensation when it was posted to World Stars Uncut Online. (The couple was charged with engaging in a lewd act)
Last year, World Hip Hop featured a video that showed three young women attacking an older woman, The Star reports.
