Calgary Zoo's hippo, a six-year-old nick-named Ghost celebrated his birthday on Halloween. There wasn't a traditional birthday cake for Ghost who bit into a pumpkin to celebrate the occasion.

"In true Halloween fashion, our recently arrived hippo, Ghost, celebrated his birthday party with pumpkins and other hip-popular treats," said the Calgary Zoo.

Ghost was born on October 31, 2006 in Granby, Quebec, and arrived at the Calgary Zoo at the end of September this year.

One of the newest additions to the Calgary Zoo, Ghost was brought in after Foggy the hippo had to be euthanized due to age-related health problems, officials had said.

"The aptly named hippo has completed his required quarantine and settled into his new home remarkably well," the Calgary Zoo adds.
