Attention all Canadian "Simpsons" fans! Hope you're sitting down (on a couch, natch).
To celebrate the 24th season of the longest-running scripted show in TV history, Global Television, 20th Century Fox Television and Gracie Films are inviting Canadian fans to develop their own “couch gag” segment for "The Simpsons" opening credits.
One lucky contest winner will have his or her idea brought to life and featured in the Canadian season finale, airing in May 2013.
Fans are encouraged to submit written ideas (50 words or less) from December 5 to 24. Submissions will be reviewed, and written summaries of the top three picks will be posted online in January. Fans will then vote for their favourite; the fan-favourite submission will be animated and premiere during the Canadian season finale episode.
In addition to having his or her couch gag featured in the season finale, the winner will receive a four-day/three-night trip for two to Los Angeles to visit "The Simpsons" animation studio Film Roman, a seat at a script read with "The Simpsons" cast and crew and a one-of-a-kind illustration from his/her winning couch gag plus a special prize pack.
"The Simpsons" airs Sunday nights at 8 p.m. EST/PST on Global TV in Canada.
