Dexter's Final Season Starts In Canada June 30; Where, When To Watch (VIDEO)

WATCH: 'Dexter' Final Season Trailer Is Here

The saga of serial killer Dexter Morgan is coming to a close this year. A trailer for the season 8 of the popular Showtime series "Dexter" is circulating online, and the tagline "The End Begins" makes it clear to fans that this will be the final season.

"Dexter" will return to TV screens on June 30 at 9 p.m. E.T. on The Movie Network in Eastern Canada, and Movie Central in Western Canada and the Territories.

The future of the show has been in flux since its sixth season, when the impending end of star Michael C. Hall's contract resulted in a public salary dispute between him and the showrunners, reports E! Online.

After a resolution was met, the show was renewed for two more seasons, with any future beyond that remaining hypothetical at best.

While Sara Colleton, executive producer for "Dexter," confirmed the show would end with season 8 in interviews last June, that may not be the end of the franchise as a whole.

Showtime president David Nevins told The Hollywood Reporter he "won't rule out" a possible spinoff series starring Dexter's sister, Deb.

Nevins added that the network "needs to get through this season and see how the dust settles and then see where we go from there."
