The bodies of two Langley teens missing since April 21 have been recovered from Nicola Lake, Merritt RCMP have confirmed.

The boys have been identified as Brendan Daniel Wilson and Austin Kurtis Kingsborough, both 17. The bodies were discovered close to where the canoe had been found, at a depth of 75 metres.

The teens were reported missing after they failed to return from a weekend trip to a family cabin. The next day, a canoe was found half-submerged in the lake, with some personal items located nearby, RCMP said in a press release.

The family had hired a private company to search the lake, RCMP said.

The investigation has been handed over to the BC Coroners Service, RCMP said.
