Jordan Lucas, the Vernon man guilty of animal cruelty for filming himself torturing a kitten was sentenced to 17 months in jail in Vancouver Provincial Court on Wednesday.
Lucas, 29, will receive 10 months credit for time served in custody, News1130 reported.
He was allegedly on drugs and awake for five days when the video was filmed.
Lucas was originally charged in July 2012 when a woman bought a used mobile phone and found a video of a kitten being tortured, which she turned over to the SPCA, The Vancouver Sun reported.
Lucas later faced two more charges when 36 videos were found showing five cats and a mouse being tortured and killed.
Crown spokesperson Samantha Hulme confirmed that on top of the animal cruelty charge, Lucas was convicted of four other offences, including robbery, dangerous driving, and possession of stolen property, with sentencing in each case to be served concurrently.
SPCA spokeswoman Lorie Chortyk called the case extremely disturbing at the time.
