Motorcycle Crash At Nootka Street And First Avenue Investigated By Vancouver Police

Deadly Motorcycle Crash

A man driving a motorcycle died Tuesday night after crashing into a pickup truck in East Vancouver, police said in a news release.

The crash occurred near the intersection of Nootka Street and East 1st Avenue at around 10:30 p.m. The motorcycle was travelling east on 1st Avenue when it hit a pickup truck that was crossing at Nootka street.

The motorcycle driver, a 27-year-old man, died at the scene. The 76-year-old pickup truck driver was not hurt in the collision. The motorcycle driver's name has not been released.

Police are still investigating the crash but they believe that speed may be a factor.

The incident is Vancouver's sixth deadly vehicle crash in 2013, compared with a total of seven by this time in 2012.
