Police have laid charges in connection to Tuesday's evacuation of Calgary's tallest skyscraper.
Tyler Judin Berg, 26, has been charged with two counts of mischief and is scheduled to appear in court on July 4.
Berg was arrested after police were called to the Westin Hotel in downtown Calgary regarding an unwanted guest.
Upon investigation, it was discovered the unwanted guest and man who allegedly uttered threats in The Bow were the same person.
Police endured a lengthy altercation at The Bow, a 58-storey office tower in the city's downtown core.
Inside the tower, Berg allegedly made threats and told security guards to call police and the SWAT team.
"Building security were advised that there was a man on the 55th floor in a women's washroom," said police spokesperson Kevin Brookwell
The door to one of the stalls was locked and security could see footwear underneath. After unsuccessful verbal contact, security forcibly entered the stall.
The threats were described as bizarre comments that included references to terrorists. It was also believed the Berg had a knife.
"There was also a smell of smoke in that washroom," said Brookwell, which led to firefighters on scene.
When security tried to intervene Berg slipped away, leading police to search every floor of the building for the suspect and any suspicious packages.
"We did what we needed to do to ensure the safety of that building," said Brookwell.
A fire alarm was also pulled, which in combination to the perceived threat led to the evacuation of the building.
