Mourners were gathered in the East Vancouver home of a woman who died in a bus accident early Saturday when a house fire broke out, killing an individual in the basement later the same day.
The fire broke at around 4:30 p.m., while the family of grandmother Naranjan Dhesi was mourning the woman who died when a bus dragged her down a hill as it was preparing to leave for Harrison Hot Springs, Global News reported.
Investigators found a single male body in the basement rental suite, and Dhesi was not believed to be related to the victim.
Dhesi's granddaughter Gurkian said there were two female tenants and one male living in the basement, The Province newspaper reported.
Officials don't yet know what caused the fire, but Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services Capt. Gabe Roder told the newspaper on Sunday that officials would go back through the house and find out what happened.
