It began with a hypothetical question: If you had to choose a new capital for Canada, what would it be and why? Readers responded in the hundreds: Many people suggested Toronto; Halifax had lots of support; Vancouver and Calgary were cited several times, along with some less obvious choices such as Kingston, St. John's and Winnipeg.
